Julia Farkas:  Silly, Slow, Sensuous Gifs

Julia Farkas (the cutest animation artist based in Budapest) works in a style that is much in vogue right now:  Neon colored flat line drawings of weirdly shaped creatures and humans that fits right in with artists like Kyle Platts, Thomas Hedger and others.  

What I love about her though, are two things.  She is a hardcore gif artist who lists her Giphy page as a link on her Instagram page.  She is PROUD of being popular as a gif artist, and she should be since she has 1.5 billion views for her gifs.

I also love the choices she makes in her best gifs when she make things slow and small, enhancing the weirdness and comedy of her characters.  They can even feel sensuous, like the couple laying on the black water beach, one stroking the other while the things on their heads look at us.  Or the mother creature rolling her little baby creature back and forth as she dreamily gazes at us.  I like the lion like creature slowly opening and closing their eyes as if half napping.  It makes me feel like having a nap looking at it.  By framing it in the lower half of the frame it makes  empty space that adds to the languid feeling.  She somehow makes cute and sexy a pair of giant feet whose toenails are freshly cut into heart shapes, toenail clippings still scattered on the ground with the scissors.  The only movement she adds are the toes wiggling with happiness.
