TTRPG Characters Master Post look at my guys! bios under the cut —>
Roc Hemlock - she/her - mid 20's-Campaign: DnD5e - Curse of Strahd-Species: Wood Elf -Class: Ranger (Monster Hunter) -Pet: off-white rat named Onion -Weapon of Choice: crossbow, Sun Sword -Special Skills: blind sight, speak with corpses, spider climb Roc started her adventuring journey with a massive loss. The final girl in an academic retreat bloodbath. She dropped off her studies and became a hardened monster slayer for hire, traveling from town to town hoping to make up for all the lives lost. Roc joined a party of adventurers intending to take down Strahd von Zarovich and set Barovia on the path to recovery. Along the way, huge mistakes were made, many of which the party couldn’t come back from. Bonds were forged with entities beyond the mortal realm, granting her what she saw as boons, others saw as curses. But her new skills helped them further the quest so it’s fine right? After many battles, infiltration and violent weddings, etc, Roc managed to acquire the Sun Sword and delivered the final blow to Strahd. The party succeeded in freeing Barovia from his clutches. But as the party left for new adventures, Roc’s ending is much more tragic. Things seemed to change for the better, until community leaders started dying. Roc still owes the outside forces payment for the gifts she’s collected and becomes the thing she swore to destroy.
Roc was my first major ttrpg character and by faaaaar my most doom and gloom. But I set out to make an edgelord assassin for this campaign and she got the ending she deserved!!! Sad and violent!! post tag
Moss Lycos - he/him - 17 -Campaign: DnD5e - Homebrew - King’s Rock -Species: Drow -Class: Rogue (Thief)/Druid (Circle of the Moon) -Pet: mutt named Dirt -Weapon of Choice: modded lightening rapier (Raiju), modded spellcasting gameboy color -Special Skills: hover skateboard (aka broom of flying), acrobatics, stealth, Wild Shape, crazy high dex Dirtbag leader of a teenaged gang in a magic low-tech 90’s Los Angeles. Moss joins a group of outsiders to help uncover a terrorist seeking to destroy King’s Rock to reignite magic crystals that once supplied magic to the land and surrounding decimated areas. Lots of espionage, joining gangs, fighting gangs, running from law enforcement, discovering fucked up magic/tech and accidental murder. My beloved glass cannon. Moss is easily my favorite character to play. I love rogues, I love being a little shitbag who takes big risks because he’s 17 and thinks he can’t die. I love getting 30+ on dex/perception rolls that let me throw a knife at a dude who’s invisible from across the room to send a message. I love throwing a big handful of dice for Sneak Attack damage. We made it to the end of the first chapter of what my DM had planned before folks had to move on to irl obligations, but I frequently bring Moss back for one shots when other DM friends want to try new things. Never letting this dude go. post tag
Whiskey - they/them - early 20’s -Campaign: ICON - Homebrew - Redbrook River Kingdoms -Species: Beastfolk (cat) -Class: Seeker -Weapon of Choice: Pistol -Special Skills: Manipulation of the four elements (magic) When they were young, Whiskey stowed away on a pirate ship hoping to find grand adventures on the high seas. Quickly caught by the crew, they were made to be the ship’s cabinboy* and got along with the crew well. Things went south after the crew discovered buried treasure containing a bracelet with an unnerving energy. Whiskey drew the shortest straw and on touching the bracelet, the latent magic flowing through their veins surged, killing several members of the crew. Whiskey was left marooned on the island. Whiskey’s not entirely sure how they made it back to main land, but they know it was fueled by rage and the promise to track down every last crew mate for revenge. But when Whiskey reaches civilization, they’re immediately wrangled into solving the murder of the Duke of Redbrook, investigating strange guilds, religions of varying intensity and government sabotage… all while trying to wrestle with controlling their newly discovered magic abilities. (*not a boy)
Tried out a new game system with this one that my usual DM found. I liked this one! Icon lets you tailor your game to combat or roleplay heavy modes. My group was much more RP forward, and I liked getting big rewards for taking big narrative swings. post tag
Julian Hackette - he/him - 30’s -Campaign: DnD5e - Rime of the Frost Maiden -Species: Bugbear -Class: Fighter (Rune Knight) -Weapon of Choice: dual axes -Special Skills: raising morale My short lived “play against type” character. I wanted to make up a guy who was the opposite of what I normally do. Hackette was kind, community focused and a brawler. He was a big dude who’s main job was mountain guide for people in the ten towns of Icewindale. Well liked across the mountains, and was last seen accidentally getting nominated for leadership in a local trade union. This game fell apart after a few sessions due to life shit, which is fine. But I still really like this design and it was fun to come up with something that was the opposite of my usual play style. post tag
Nyx Grey - they/them - 30-ish-Campaign: DnD5e - Homebrew - God’s Walk-Species: Dhampir -Class: Rogue (Phantom) -Weapon of Choice: rapier, secret knife, fangs -Special Skills: can pick most locks under six seconds, earning the nickname Six Nyx was a shady little shit in their lifetime, gambling, petty crime, the works. They eventually made the wrong people mad and woke up six feet deep in an unmarked grave. Despite being undead, Nyx had a new lease on “life”, joining a group intent on solving a missing persons case between two rival factions in an isolated city.
Played this game with a group of college friends for a good chunk of time and it was nice to take a support role to let other friends shine in the story. Fun being a wretched, intentionally gross and creepy thing. post tag
Sebastian Glass - he/him (depending on presentation) - late 20’s -Campaign: DnD5e - Homebrew - Foggy ol’ Blondon Town -Species: Human -Class: Artificer (Artillerist) -Weapon of Choice: makeshift Eldritch Cannon, lying -Special Skills: disguise, knowledge of the occult, parlor tricks and stage craft Seb is a drag king/con artist currently residing in Blondon Town, living his best life as a fake occultist. He spends his days putting on elaborate parlor seances with his theater tech and artistic background and scamming little old ladies with tea leaf readings. After a seance seems to feature an actual spirit, Seb is invited to a secret society called the Axe and Key, along with a group of other potential recruits with similar supernatural encounters. Very Penny Dreadful meets Hellboy. Big fan of this group, though we’re on indefinite hiatus as members recently moved. Hope we can pick this one back up again some time! post tag Gila Monster - he/him/any really - early 20’s -Campaign: DnD5e - Legends of Avantris/Crooked Moon -Species: Ashborn -Class: Rogue (Phantom) -Weapon of Choice: pistol, scorpion sting -Special Skills: dumb luck, can see and communicate with ghosts, can summon a spectral handcart on a good day Train hopping, bar hopping, mail carrying lizard-devil from the desert. Gila and his partner, were-coyote Harlow Gnash, are generallyyy good at their jobs. Though there was an incident a while back, where Gila had a near death experience. Hit by a train, was dead for several minutes and now he can see ghosts. It’s terrible, but he’s dealing with it! Current day, Gila and Harlow had a delivery mishap landing them in probation. Gila is sent on a fetch quest deep into the woods where he’s encountered two others who’s goals happen to align with his own! Not my usual group, but one I’m hyped to be playing with. Me and two other experienced players joined up to help introduce our friend to DnD! Should be a short campaign, but a very fun one. I’m excited to see where it goes, and I can definitely see myself keeping Gila in my back pocket for future one-shots. post tag
