I just finished Aiden Thomas’s Cemetery Boys and my heart is over flowing with love for this beautiful story. The book follows Yadriel Flores, a trans Latinx teen who seeks acceptance from his family as a boy and as part their community of brujx, people blessed by Lady Death to guide spirits to the afterlife and heal the living. In his quest to prove himself, Yadriel accidentally summons the spirit of Julian Diaz. Together, they must find out the cause of Julian’s death and find Yadriel’s missing cousin. This book is a wonderful story of love and family. The depictions of the many facets of the Latinx community are vibrant and colorful. The imagery surrounding Dia de Muertos is stunning. I love the concept of the dead coming back to visit on Dia de Muertos and that no one is truly gone so long as you remember them. It’s beautiful and like this story, reminds us that love wins. I look forward to reading more of Aiden Thomas’s books in the future. 🧑🏽🦱🗡💀❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #cemeteryboys #aidenthomas #yadriel #juliandiaz #maritza #lgbtqyanovel #loveislove #lovewins #representationmatters #read #reading #hurricanereads #fallreads #books #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CTkNLjrrovX/?utm_medium=tumblr
