HOW TO CREATE MULTIPLE TUMBLR ACCOUNTS WITH ONE EMAIL
One of the most tiresome parts of roleplaying (for me, anyways) is making new character accounts. I’ve gone with manually creating them on Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. with names like ‘yobiscuitdog’ and 10-minute emails, which are simpler and take less time but are very hard to remember. I usually end up copy/pasting them into a drafts of my main Tumblr to keep track of them all! But guess what: there is a way around making a new email for each new Tumblr account. In fact, you only need one email! To be more specific, you only need one Gmail. This is super easy, and super useful! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Links to screenshots are bolded.
Create a Gmail account.
Already have a Gmail account you want to use? Awesome! Feel free to skip this step.Don’t have a Gmail? Just as awesome! Head over to Gmail and create one, easy peasy! Sometimes, it does ask you to give your phone number to send a verification code to after you submit the form. It doesn’t always ask you for your phone number, though, and oftentimes, it shows up for awhile, and then goes away. You can get the verification code immediately and start going from there, or you can wait awhile and keep checking back to see if it’s working - the choice is yours!
Create an account on Tumblr.
For the sake of this tutorial, I created two accounts: one with the Gmail I created for character accounts, and one with the same Gmail, to show you that it works! Sign up for a Tumblr account using your email, like this. Go check your email and look for the email from Tumblr support (it should show up under the Social tab), click the verification link, and set up the account. This should be easy peasy. I hope you know how to register for Tumblr by now if you’re reading this! If not, it is easy peasy lemon squeezy and very self-explanatory. But if you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask! See, this is the Tumblr dashboard of redandblueguy after it’s all set up.Â
Sign up for a second account on Tumblr - using the same email.
Like I said, you can use the same email. But that sounds weird, right? That doesn’t sound possible! Here’s the trick: let’s say the email you used is [email protected]. Now you want to make a second blog with the same email, but you do have to make some modifications. So, you add a plus sign (+) after the username, and then add an identifier that makes it easy to remember which account is for which. So if my second blog is a Tumblr for a character named Myriam, I would probably use [email protected], so I remember that the account is Myriam’s! When you’re signing up, it should look like this.
Verify the Tumblr blog - with the same email!
The verification email will be sent to the same email you used for the first account! If I’m continuing my previous example, the email would go to [email protected], like this. When I clicked on the email, it showed up like this, with the strange rectangle with three dots inside of it! Just click on that little button and you should get to this.
And enjoy!
Here is the dashboard of the new Tumblr account I just made! Voila! See, it’s that easy. I hope this was helpful, and I know this is going to save my life, and I hope it saves yours! Have a great day!
