Met Gala Boyfriends
Now that we're a little over a month out from the Met Gala, I have a few additional thoughts. Because I'm so curious about why Hudcon chose the Met Gala to be the most obvious they’ve been so far. First, I have some general thoughts about Connor and Hudson and their relationship before I move onto the Met Gala itself.
Connor & Soulmates: I think it's so interesting how much importance Connor places on the idea of soulmates. He's commented several times on instantly knowing that Hudson belonged to him and was a part of him cosmically. Connor said Hudson was part of soul family in that one interview and Hudson noticeably got upset at not being Connor's only soulmate 😂, and Connor had to rectify that quickly. It made me think about the language Connor uses with Bailey and how they consider themselves soulmates. Quick example, in the movie Contact with Jodie Foster, I always joke her character got a romantic soulmate in Matthew McConaughey and a platonic soulmate in William Fichtner's character. During a pivotal moment in the movie, they were both there for her character, and I was like she's just greedy having both 🙄🤣. All that to say, when Connor met Hudson, he already had a soulmate for life in Bailey, but I think he was and is still taken by surprise at finding his romantic soulmate in Hudson pretty much at first sight, and the intensity of his feelings for him. That's why some people don't understand, when they wonder about the depths of his feelings for Hudson, they're so big if he openly expressed them all the time the room would be thick with his desire and love for Hudson, and I think that HiTops was a preview of that.
Hudson Being Led/Held: My own personal observation of Hudson is that in relationships with friends and family, he seems to like being doted on, and not in like a selfish way, but like you can see he loves to absorb love from others and be held by them. It makes me think about when Connor and he wrapped on Heated Rivalry and Jacob came over and kissed both of them on the head, Hudson needed more and reached back for Jacob to hug and hold him. When I think of Hudson and Connor together, I think of Connor often leading in their relationship and Hudson enjoying being led. Now, I want to be clear, I'm not saying this as in Hudson likes being subservient, and I know people have had the conversation about Connor being a soft dom. I don't know all of the specifics of that type of dynamic. However, I think that Hudson likes Connor taking the lead when they are doing things as a couple, especially when it comes to PDA as it were. You can see some of that at the Toronto premiere when Hudson pats Connor on his back but then drops his arm, and Connor immediately goes to hold him and rub his back, and Hudson puts his arm back on Connor. And don't get me started on the VF Silver Carpet, with Connor calling Hudson over and Hudson practically sprinting to be held. This is part of why I look at his relationship with K like this 🤔. Because I don't see this behavior changing if Hudson were in a romantic relationship with a woman. We see the way he was sitting in Aika's lap and that's his friend. If, and this is a big if, K was really his woman I would expect him to be sitting in her lap because that's just the vibe I get from Hudson. But nothing 🤷🏽♀️.
Alright, now that I've gotten those thoughts out of the way, let me move onto the Met Gala, more specifically the Met Gala After Parties. Pretty much since the SNL After Party, where we didn't get any pictures of Hudcon together, they seem to take advantage of private events, where people aren't going to take a lot of pictures and share them or at least, they can ask people not to. But some of the "cracks" let's say of this plan started to show with the CAA pre-Oscar Party, where it was noted in several publications how close they were all night, and that it didn't go unnoticed by attendees at the event. Which leads us to the Met Gala. Traditionally you don't get a lot of candid/private pictures from inside the event or at the after parties. The big deal is the Red Carpet. But we know professional pictures are taken, bathroom selfies, and other pictures are taken and shared from the event. We got more pictures from the actual Gala of Hudcon then I think many of us expected, and they were wonderful. However, it's when the night moved onto the After Parties that things got interesting.
Couple Behavior: Whether intentional or not, the way almost every publication talked about Hudcon's behavior at the After Parties, sounded like they were writing about Hollywood's newest IT Couple. Not everyone is in the Fandom bubble, where we've read interview after interview, and watched interview after interview, of Hudcon being extremely affectionate with each other and not shying away from it. For a lot of us the Quinn Interview for Ember & Ice was the turning point where their affection seemed extremely charged for people who claim to just be best friends. In particular, the description of them weaving through the crowd holding hands, sitting in each other's laps, and holding "court" on the rooftop together indicate an intimacy that was undeniable to everyone present.
Sexual Behavior: Now onto the nitty gritty, because I think everyone has been afraid to go there because it truly is in the speculation territory, but I think it's important, if we want to talk about the "fallout" after Met Gala. By now most of us have seen this screenshot basically confirming what was described that night, with some interesting additions.
I want to draw attention to two things here. The bathroom visits and the people asking if they were a couple. I'll start with the later as it ties into what I just talked about. Their behavior that night was loud and quite frankly in my opinion the culmination of their behavior during Golden Globes Weekend, at SNL, and at the VF Oscar Party and Madonna's Oscar Party. It was loud enough that people present didn't have a problem acknowledging that they thought they were looking at a couple and seeking confirmation from said couple.
The bathroom visits. I'm sorry there is no way other way to interpret what they got up to in that bathroom TWICE. It's exactly what we think it is. Like I said I know people don't like this particular type of speculation, and you don't have to believe. However, it was shown that the bathroom they were most likely in was a private one within a larger bathroom so make of that what you will. And Hudson more or less showed us what they got up to with that picture of Connor that Tumblr deems mature 🤷🏽♀️😏. Despite all of our theories on the nature of their relationship, this behavior was the most explicit so far in hinting without telling. The morning after indicated this as well.
Morning After: Those morning after pictures were something else. As was Hudson's now dubbed "walk of pride" to his car to take him back to his hotel, since he got dropped off at Connor's after they were out to 6 am. There are missing hours from that night, roughly 3:30 am to 6am, just like there are missing pieces of Hudson's clothes. We assumed they were going to have good time and turn up, but I don't think we expected the visuals to match said turning up. Something about Hudson walking through the streets in the early morning looking like he threw on his man's shirt and dipped (although we know that was a part of his outfit) is as salacious as it is vulnerable which brings me to my final point. The fallout.
Fallout: I'm not sure what prompted, Hudcon to truly let their guard down that night. Possibly a combination of youth, raw attraction and desire for each other, and of course the emotional need they always have to ground each other. Whatever it was, they relied on the mostly private nature of an event like the Met Gala to release their inhibitions and go into full couple mode. However, it kind of reflects what we're seeing right now with Hudson and realizing how much people are watching them like a hawk. Hudcon is Famous Famous. They're hot right now.
In a ridiculously short amount of time, they've found themselves in spaces with established A-List celebrities, and as shocking as it may seem to Hudcon, they are the celebrities that everyone wants to meet and talk to. They are always being watched and observed now, and that night some of the more detailed observations broke containment.
In my opinion, and I've mentioned this before, that night presented them as an open secret for Hollywood. All of the other shit that happened after (Rpfing gotta stop y'all, IG Accounts, Picture leaks, it's been so much fun 🤡🙃) aside, when they're at the next big event together, it feels like it's going to be a given that is how they are perceived. Which is why I think this summer, prior to filming there is going to be a lot of cleaning house in their lives, because it's only a matter of time before the General Public finally catches up to what Hollywood saw in person, and what we've been observing in the Fandom. When that time comes, I'm not saying they need a "hard launch" 🙄, but I'm sure they'll want all loose ends tied up and a clean slate to present themselves in a more deliberate and obvious way. But as of right now Met Gala was truly a night to remember. That night deserves two musical numbers 😁🎶.
