Just saying, I think the Ik-sun and Jun-Wan breakup was really necessary because their relationship was so dysfunctional by that point!! They were not really talking to each other about anything serious in their own lives and were always kinda superficial in their long distance calls??? I don't think they even had enough time to settle into an irl relationship before Ik-sun left and even from season one you could tell they have different priorities in life and very different personalities. It's really important for them to have this break to re-evaluate what their relationship means to themselves and if they really are a good fit for one another.

Ik-jun was absolutely right when he said that Jun-wan's girlfriend was stressing him out, but I think it's really telling that in reaction to this news, Ik-sun decides to make up a story about her falling for someone else to break it off with Jun-wan. She's using superficial lies to avoid confronting actual issues in her life/their relationship. Granted she's doing that because she thinks he'll be less stressed out without her in the picture, but she's completely failing to see how they're just avoiding the actual problems. She does this with other things too, always telling him not to worry about her. Jun-wan, too, had so many chances to tell Ik-sun about what has been stressing him out, but keeps failing to communicate with her about how he's doing. And she's not a mind reader—if he doesn't tell her about his work problems, how would she know? Their relationship really really needed a good break and they need a nice long chat to figure out how to move forward.

I am sure ik jun knew about ik sun and jun wan. Why else would he specifically tell her about jun wan’s girlfriend being selfish? The last few minutes of confusion is probably because he doesn’t know about their breakup yet.
