the dreaded Ni-Fi loop: the background
a healthy INTJ will rely on their primary and secondary cognitive functions
Ni, or introverted intuition, is the primary cognitive function for INTJ (and INFJ), deals with understanding how the world works through internal intuitive analysis.
Ni relies on gut feelings and intuition about a situation to help them understand. Introverted Intuition does not look at what is seen. Introverted Intuition forms an internal map and framework of how things work.
Te, or extroverted thinking, is the secondary cognitive function for INTJ (and ISTJ), is when you are being logical, objective and fair. It is characteristically impersonal, focused more on things and systems than people or feelings. TJs readily express their rational judgments; they literally think aloud, in a characteristically logical, analytical, systematic, and explicit in its workings.
Te is characteristically logical, analytical, systematic, and explicit in its workings. It takes the perceived world, carves it up into pieces, then proceeds to name and analyze each piece. This helps TJ’s stay focused on the truth and logic and break down challenges into smaller steps, it keeps them in action.
Fi, or introverted feeling, is the third cognitive function for INTJ. This should serve INTJ’s as a filter for information that matches what is valued, wanted, or worth believing in.
when an INTJ is not healthy, they are not utlizing Extroverted Thinking (Te) and instead relying on a toxic positive feedback loop between Ni and Fi
