December 2011. Jungle training. Malaysia. I’m going to start this one out my stating that I absolutely despise the jungle. I’ll take a rain forest, I’ll live in the desert, I’ll stay in a swamp. But, FUCK a jungle. I was with 1st platoon, India 3/1 and we were given hammocks to keep off the ground that would routinely have several inches of water flowing for a couple hours a day. It started raining the second day we got there and then didn’t stop over the next week or so. I brought enough socks for a month, and that didn’t last me a week. It’s a strange sensation to be somewhere humid with temperatures close to 100 and still be freezing my ass off. The Malaysian soldiers we were training with were super cool though, and we all got along despite the language barrier. I think it’s worthy of note that sometimes not speaking the same language is a better way of communicating because you have to do it with facial and hand gestures, especially if someone’s animated. I ended up going back a few days before everyone else. My feet got wet, and I couldn’t get them dry for a week. My soles looked like soggy marshmallows and parts of them slid off. Bed rest on ship isn’t a good time. Take care of your feet. Change your damn socks. All photos besides the last one are mine. #jungle #jungletraining #travel #marines #navy #sailors #meu #military #malaysia #malaysianarmy #usmc #combatcamera #cameraman #photographer #photography #getsome #friends #changeyoursocks #foriegnexchange #camo (at Malaysia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGuroB3pq2g/?igshid=14s7uzvcqezr
