Junkan Month - Days 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14: Gamble, Mysterious, Machine, Style, Unlucky, Walk.

Junko, Mikan, and Akane have to make their way through a still raging snowstorm if they want to get to Hope's Peak. Who knows what awaits them out there in the cold, howling winds...

And here we are back again with a new chapter for Danganronpa IF: Revival Remix! I apologize for taking longer to get this chapter out, I was hit with the horrible affliction known as "The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy", but thankfully I've been able to subdue it for the moment. This came out in Novemeber which means it's officially a chapter posted during and for "Junkan Month! I am very much not a "Draw/Write a day" type person but I'm doing the "Any chapter posted this month will count" type application. This also can still match up to the day themes on the prompt list. Specifically "Gamble", "Mysterious", "Machine", "Style", "Unlucky", and "Walk" thanks to the themes and acts done in this chapter. Didn't even set out to do it, but it just neatly works out for me, isn't that great? As always, any comments and feedback are greatly welcomed. I love hearing your thoughts on my work and all of it helps me work to become an even greater writer. Hope to see you again soon! Happy Junkan month folks.

A Hypothetical Ask (Junkan Month Day 30: End)

How's she doing at the moment?

"Still got the chills and needed my held dragging her over to the bathroom to puke... probably gonna be a few more days before this thing goes away. Mostly sticking to ice chips and water right now, since anything even slightly heavy she vomits back up."

Junko glances over to Mikan, who is still sick in bed. Her whole body shakes and twitches as she clings to the layers of blankets wrapped around her.

"Jeez, this thing's really kicking her ass. God I hope this is just bad luck on her part and nothing fatal."

"I feel like an idiot for not noticing any signs of it sooner. Maybe she'd had it the whole day and I just let her go out into the cold with me like that."

"Not like she would have told us. She doesn't really see her own concerns and wants as important. Lotta times during our school days where I'd have to text her to go eat during lunch instead of just working in the nurse's office the whole period."

"After all she's done to help make sure you recover, just ain't fair seeing her like this."

Silence passes over the two as they watch Mikan sleep, both leaning against the wall as she lets out tiny noises in her sleep.

"... Got another question for ya, boss lady."

"Ask away."

"Definitely ain't saying this is gonna happen but... what do we do if Mikan dies?"

The silence returns, this time even longer as they both away from each other.

"... If Mikan died from this, then... that'd be it, I suppose. The healer's down and she's not coming back. My body's still racked with pain and anguish, I need the stuff she gives me and helps me with. If she passes, we'd just be waiting to join her after that."

"But what about taking down Future Foundation?"

"We'd have even less likely a chance that we do now. A resurrected girl with an absolutely fucked up body and a skilled gymnast would only be able to do so much."

"So we wouldn't attack Future Foundation.. What would we do, then."

"Probably just give her a funeral and then wait to try and figure out a nice spot to crash at and go from there. But that's not going to happen. She'll pull through. Mikan's got a stupid high tolerance level for any kind of pain and suffering. This is no different."

"Yeah, yeah, you're right. Sorry for asking."

"Come on, let's get some sleep. We can't be down and pessimistic like that, not for someone like Mikan!"

The two go back to silence as they move to the sleeping bags set up next to the bed. Good to be close in case Mikan needed something in the middle of the night. Even with the despair of her sickness possibly getting even worse, neither could fully give in to the pessimism of the situation. Mikan'd be fine. She just needed a few more days.

They both watch her, talking to her with their eyes and expression. Both were some form of "Don't leave, you barely just got here!"
