Like all good things, the end is nigh. It’s time to say goodbye to drinking with dinosaurs
Jurassic Lounge – like a grown-up’s birthday party at the museum where you’re allowed to drink liquor and touch fossils – is where Sydney’s twentysomethings have been flocking on a Tuesday night since way back in 2011. There’s a disco, usually the silent type. There’s goofy-sexy burlesque (best kind in our minds). And as you turn the corner into another part of the museum, you’ll probably come across a cool local band giving a free intimate gig. So, yeah, it’s good fun.

“If it’s so good, why is it finishing?” we hear you ask. Time Out put just that question to Penny Salway of the Festivalists, the awesome multi-tasking people behind Jurassic Lounge and other local events like Kino Sydney. “We decided it was the right time to say goodbye,” she says. “After all, all good things must come to an end.”

The Tuesday night shindig has attracted more than 53,000 people since its inception. However, Salway hints that late nights at the museum may return one day in some other capacity. “There might be something else in the future. We’re going to take time out and reimagine something for next year.” (Time Out, Sydney)
