“Fourth, I feel like his objectification comment comes mostly from the Wonder Woman costume. That, by sheer virtue of Diana saving people in that costume, she’s automatically an object.”
I chose this quote because I feel like it brings out an idea that I have always wondered and been curious about. Watching women on screen, they are often objectified to be a glorious and beautiful woman. Makeup, hair done, and a costume or outfit that brings out their curves and features. Even as a woman superhero, they are still glorified. Then, the article points out the certain woman that are portrayed as more of a “bad ass.” They use guns, and even wear pants. They often are also portrayed as keeping up with the men. As I read this, the first person I thought of was Jenna Cameron. In Roswell New Mexico, Cameron is a female cop, which is first of all, a shock that they have a woman as a cop. For most films, it is always the masculine men who portray the strong cop. As a cop, Cameron quite often keeps up with her male co-workers. Cameron also shoots her gun often, and portrays herself as very strong and capable. Seeing this definitely resonates with me, since it is a strong woman doing very strong and bold things, and not just a male carrying.
