“I don't,” Erwin repeats. “I don't like the idea of others using you like that.”  “Oh now that's rich,” Levi snatches his hand back. “Considering how much you use me.”  “I've never—”  “Just because you haven't fucked me doesn't mean you haven't used me,” Levi spits, and Erwin finds himself speechless. Because Levi is right – Erwin does use him regularly. He's come to rely on Levi's strength and skill on the field to carry them through each and every mission. Except Erwin can't pay Levi for his services. The only thing he can give Levi is the Wings of Freedom.  “Your skills and talents were being wasted in the Underground,” Erwin rebukes.  “Because I haven’t heard that line before. You think you’re the first to tell me that I should fight for them?” Levi barks, turning and shoving an accusatory finger against Erwin’s chest.  Erwin bristles at the insinuation. “It’s not the same and you know it.”   “Oh yeah? Prove it then. What’s the difference between fighting their enemies and yours?”  “My enemies aren’t men. I command men, and fight the Titans beyond these walls.”  Something dark flashes in Levi’s eyes. It makes Erwin want to grab Levi around the waist and pin him against the nearest horizontal surface. He wants to make Levi tell him everything there is to know about himself. And he realizes with a start that he could. If he asked the right questions, if he made them an order, Levi would likely obey. Because he’ll do whatever Erwin says.  “Why me?” Erwin asks. Levi ignores him and turns away, crossing his arms and looking out the window pane. Everyone’s guest chambers have a view of the garden.      “You let me use you. You refuse to so much as follow others orders, but you always obey mine.”  Levi stays silent, but Erwin can see the way a chord of tension pulls tighter through Levi’s shoulders.  “You would have done it, you would have fucked him and taken his coin, but only if I told you to do it.” Erwin approaches, knows that Levi can see him coming in the reflection of the window. “You do whatever I tell you without question. Why?”  “I don’t know…” Levi’s voice is practically a whisper, but Erwin is close enough to him that he hears the truth. “It’s like you’ve got this wire wrapped around me, in me, and if I don’t follow you, listen to you, it’ll pull me apart.”  Erwin doesn’t know what to do, what to think, with this newfound information. The thought of Levi needing to obey him does something to his insides. It turns him hot and bubbly, leaving his mouth full of too much saliva that he has to swallow down.  “And if I told you to turn around and go find Stratmann? If I ordered you to go fuck him? Right now?”  Levi spins on his heel, looking ready to pounce “I’d do it. Fuck, Erwin, I’d do it.”  Staring down at Levi, Erwin decides fuck it. He rolls the dice and gambles. “And if I told you to fuck me?”

Summary

Shadis walks past him, clearly trying to chase down one of the servers with a tray of wine. “Who would have expected Levi to actually be useful at these things,” he says, clapping Erwin on the shoulder. He already reeks of wine. “He’s an absolute flirt.”

Flirt.

There’s that word again. Levi is flirting with those around him. He’s making them smile and blush and lean into him as much as he’s leaning into them.

And for some reason, this upsets Erwin.
