So about that AU you mentioned, where the Denners meet WRU?
WRU doesn’t hire contractors. It’s almost the first rule. Too many bad experiences, too much risk of outsiders, of people who don’t understand the company.
Too many amateurs out there, and amateurs are dangerous.
Ethan Somers looks at the appointment in his calendar with disfavour. He raises his voice and calls his assistant.
“Parker, what the hell is this? You gave this time waster a full hour?” He can’t quite keep a note of outrage from his voice as he looks at his Rolex. He’d planned to leave early today, maybe fit in a quick round of golf on the way home.
“Yes, sir,” says Parker calmly. A tall young man, very patient with his irritable employer. “If you read the attachment, sir, I think you’ll be interested.”
Somers glares at him, then transfers his attention to the slim dossier in his hand. After a couple of minutes, he realizes that his assistant is still there.
“What? Oh, yes, Parker. You did the right thing. Bring him up in the private elevator when he gets here. And make sure the cameras are on.”
Amateurs are nothing but risk, and WRU hates risk. Still, once in a while, an offer crosses your desk that it would be foolish to refuse.
In fact, when Somers’ appointment shows up (twelve minutes late, Somers notes, hiding his anger), there are two of them.
