a passive aggressive letter to myself
wow grace, look, this pack of air drying clay has been sitting on your shelf for two years! it's about time you did something with it. let's make a figurine! since you're halfway through watching Avatar, how about Momo? he's cute! never mind that you know nothing about lemur anatomy. and don't bother listening to any of those silly things the tutorials tell you to do, like making an armature to support the figure. that would make it way too easy later on when you're trying to get everything to balance and stand up! yeah! :)
don't bother brushing up on those basic clay modeling skills that you learnt a year and a half ago, either. you always hated doing all those tedious and unimportant things like making slurry and getting all the air bubbles out and joining properly :)
let's choose a cool pose too. how about with him standing up, arms outstretched? never mind that that means you have to figure out how to do the really thin flaps of skin he uses to fly, or that the figurine will end up basically vertical and more challenging to balance. it's not like your ambition far outstrips your ability, that would be silly! I'm sure you can deal with it :) oh and you don't need any references! just use the power of your imagination :)
oh yeah, go ahead and slice your right thumb open with the sharp modeling tool too! I mean, the last time you used it you did the left thumb, so it's definitely time for the right. don't worry, it's only bit rusty, and you've had your tetanus shots :) and it's not like you need both hands to work the clay or anything :)
