what are your opinions on the new GOOD meat from JUST INC that makes lab grown meat without killing or harming the animal at all? would you think vegans would be able to eat lab grown meat and dairy if it was all created in the same way/without killing or harming the animal at all? because a lot of new startups are doing that and it’s making me very excited!
From their website:
1) We begin by sourcing a small amount of animal cells from high-quality poultry or livestock.
2) GOOD Meat is real meat made from cells instead of animals that are raised and slaughtered. Thus, the cultured chicken we produce is not a plant-based, vegan or vegetarian product.
I think that last line is them trying to say it’s not a vegan product as in, is not fake meat, but it also may be them referring to the fact that they do use animal inputs in production. They also don’t mention whether or not their growth formula is made using animal inputs such as blood, which most of them are. The fact that they didn’t specify makes me think that theirs probably isn’t vegan either. Don’t get me wrong, I am supportive of lab grown meat and excited to see where it goes, but as it stands it really isn’t aimed at vegans.
