If you’re able, it’s so important that you use your hands. Make art, take up woodworking, garden, play a musical instrument, anything. If you can use your hands, use them as much as you can and savour the feeling.

+ hi same anon it’s the same way I feel about people making “bad art” about things they like like. Omg you took the time out of your day to use your creativity to make something from passion ?? Even if someone isn’t “truely skilled” like a freaking Renaissance Painter, I will personally cleave out my heart for people that make art in any way. Go fourth now, make that anatomically incorrect stick figure.
you do not get 'good' art without a lot (A LOT) of bad (?) art. i made a lot of bad art with friends on the internet. im still making bad art. cringe stuff. i make so much bad art. it has kept me sane and i mean that in the sincerest way possible
This AI shit has really encouraged me to use pencil and paper again. To relearn paint mixing instead of using the eye dropper tool. To make time for paper books again. And to get the FUCK off Instagram and YouTube.
Shit sucks and the fear can be paralyzing. And I can’t fix the world, but I can at least fix my own habits.
So I’ve been stepping back from Other Social Media, and I haven’t used my computer in 3 weeks. It’s been great tbh. It had been so long since I last painted that I forgot how pigments work. I had to remember that blue+red+white does NOT = pretty purple. Mixing cyan and magenta tho?
Remembering the process and getting my hands dirty made me so happy! And it’s nice to make stuff that exists outside a hard drive.
So yeah I have no idea what the point of this was. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed by The State of Things, I strongly recommend grabbing some shitty paint and slapping it down on a blank surface. It can just be blobs of colors that make you happy. It can be a meme. It can be calligraphy. And then you should put that shit somewhere you can see it. Guaranteed to feel better 10/10

The 47 And 3 Cents Project: a carefully curated project for you to make in an envelope that only needs one stamp to reach you. The marveling idea that for 47 cents I can send you an envelope and with it’s contents you can create something in just a few minutes time. A way to encourage people to create and inspire.
Specifics:
- United States only, please. (This is a free project! All you have to do is request an envelope and I’ll take care of the rest.)
- I mail you an envelope containing the things you need to make something, whether it be a greeting card, an ATC, an art journal page, a piece of embroidery, etc. Essentially, whatever project I come up with that fits into an envelope and requires one stamp to mail. Projects will come with some sort of instruction/guide sheet, but you are free to do what you want with what you receive.
- All I ask in return is that you post an image of your project somewhere with the hashtag #47centproject and let me know that you did.
You can request an envelope via the private message function here on Tumblr or on Instagram. You can also send me an email at [email protected]
