I went LARPing today. I learned that I actually am okay at fighting with the weapons I practice.
We do contact weapon forms in kung fu but they are practiced patterns. It is scripted so you get comfortable with a weapon but it's not fighting ya know?
Anyway, played around with a polearm and only lost 2 duels of like 15-20 so not to bad 😁
OK SO NOT ONLY DID ZAK FROM @savedatateam GET POSTED ON THE OFFICIAL ACE ATTORNEY INSTAGRAM BUT SAVE DATA REPLIED TO MY COMMENT ON THAT POST AS WELL
At lunch today ...
Teammate: Hey, Nicki, do we have a data meeting this afternoon?
My husband: No, but you do have a Lore meeting.
Pretty hyped about it, but I'm DMing a D&D campaign rn, and the party is about to fight a super magical T-Rex that can breathe wasps and teleport around every turn.
Jan, geeking out about mathematics <3
So I went to a couple Meaderies this week. And Mead people are.... built different. They are some of the coolest but weirdest absolute nerds ever. Like the guy that came in and started talking about the TTRPG he was making as a tie-in for his small business microbrewery. Built. Different.
Anyways while we were there the head brewer of the Oppegaard Meadery was telling a story from last year when he was a judge for the Beard Contest at a Seattle Ren faire. A woman walks up to the Beard Contest table with her hair parted, pulled around, and tied in front of her face. She has it waxed and everything with a little handlebar moustache and a beaded braid and she says
“I bet you wouldn’t let a woman enter the Beard Contest.”
And the judges are like “Of course we will, here’s your number.”
The woman won first place. And an Irish Wolfhound won third place. After the contest some of the other contestants complained about the judges not taking the Beard Contest seriously enough. The brewer said it was “The most Ballard thing to ever happen.”
