What I love about here is that we just talk about the books we love. There's no talking about a reading goal , no one mentions how many books they read this month/year. We could just yap about the same series and never get tired of it or feel pressure to read more.

I finally picked up The Secret History and after making it through the first hundred pages, this is my journey so far:

I went from "why would they kill Bunny" to "I wish they would kill Bunny sooner"

I realised that the group appears untouchable and above all simply because they're the only people who can stand each other

I hope Francis and Richard fuck just to spite Bunny

Needless to say I'm having fun and I'm intrigued how this shit show will continue.

I think my biggest problem with leaving comments is that I can't seem to say anything original??? Like YOUR FIC IS AMAZING AND GOREGOUS AND SPECTACULAR AND JUST MIND-BLOWING but then all I can do is use the same words over and over again and it's like what are words? why are they so limiting? the true human experience can never be captured in them? we try, oh, how we try. but we always fall a bit short. the offering is hopeful in its attempt and yet crude in its execution. words are brittle things, fragile as bone, yet we hand them over, broken, chipped, stained with the oil of our fingers, as if they could ever be enough to convey the enormity of feeling.

when i say your fic is gorgeous, i know it is but a single candle compared to the cathedral of light you deserve. it is to sing a single note when my chest burns with an entire symphony.

i guess what i mean to say is, the offering is this: clumsy heap of language laid at your feet, not because it can match the depth of what you've created, but because I hope you’ll understand the attempt. it's not perfect. it's not whole. but it's yours, if you'll have it.
