listen, i like pj's movies. i really do... but what is up with his obsession to create additional conflict for secondary or main characters in the movies by turning good (or implied to be good) father-son relationships from the books into dysfunctional? examples include (but are not limited to) aragorn & elrond and legolas & thranduil. and i won't even mention turning faramir & denethor's dysfunctional but ultimately loving father-son relationship into a blatantly abusive one.
