No Second Thoughts...
It wasn't until years later when I was in eighth grade that the subject reared its head again. While hanging out in my backyard with my best friend we started talking about boys. Two teenage girls, what'd you expect? I confessed to her that I'd never been kissed. Her response?
"I'd kiss you."
I turned to look at her, without any hesitation or second thoughts (not even a first thought) completely okay with the idea.
"If one of us was a guy."
The fact that my heart dropped, that I felt... disappointed. That I wanted to kiss her and that I had no problem with it, that it felt natural to me was the second inkling of my sexuality that I had. But at this time I was still unaware of sexuality. So I bottled it up and kept it hidden.
Thirteen and oblivious.
Yeah... Not fun.
