I’ve been reading this fic for a while now and it’s so good. The author is a really good writer and they touch on some really hard topics but I think they do it really well. But anyway please check it out this has literally everything. Jealous Mike, Dark Will, Angst, Fluff, Will with Powers and more but just do it. It’s so addicting. Anyway, I felt the need to share it because I don’t think it gets enough attention.

Mud and Bruises

Perhaps it’s the wine, or his sour mood, or some combination of the two, but he quickly gives up on these fruitless efforts. The truth of the matter is that happy reunions don’t suddenly come about after fifteen years of separation, and they surely never occur in a setting so ghastly as a ball.

So, he settles in for the night, shucking off his finery and down to a simple pair of breeches and a loose shirt, letting his limbs breathe where they had felt too tight and cut off in his formal attire. That one name continues to haunt him, though, as do dark eyes cast low in candlelight. It leaves him on edge, anxiety tensing in his neck, especially at the familiar, low flutters in his stomach he’d only felt towards one other person.

And he’d already decided that it couldn’t be him.

here's a little collection of all the reconnection fics i've written. in honor of that ridiculously open ending. i'm working on a new post-canon one, but i hope one of these makes ya'll happy or sad or whatever it is that you need. 🖤

Touch Me Like You Know Me (M)- Mike doesn't go home anymore, not unless absolutely necessary. Instead, he stays far away from Hawkins, quietly shutting himself off from the world, and burying the pain of the things he never said to the boy he'd left behind. But when his mother convinces him to return home for his thirty-fifth birthday, Mike is finally forced to confront just how much he'd given up when he runs into Will by accident. Mike-centric. Estranged Byler reconnection fic. Soft and Sweet.

Lay Me Down Slow- (M)- It's 1998 and Will is anxiously making his way to a bar to meet up with Mike, who he hasn't seen in over a decade. Emotions run high as he shares a drink with him, and when a confrontation turns violent, it leads to truths being told and the two of them finding each other again. Will POV.

I Held On As Tightly As I Held Onto You- (T)- After years of life getting in the way---be it by distance or choices made--Mike hasn't seen Will in almost a decade. But one cold winter's night, he's back in town and Mike cooks him a meal.

Moonflower- (M)- Will Byers hasn't been back to the town that haunted him since he ran away to college. But years later, after he is fired from his job and his drinking starts to effect his daily life, he has no other choice but to return home. There he'll face his past full on: his family, old wounds, and a long-buried lie he told his best friend one care-free summer's night in 1987.

Chapter 2: Gilded Cage

He took a small bite of the pudding at first, soft cake and the bite of the caramelized ginger melting against his tongue. It had been his favorite since he was a child, always what he requested when he was home from the school holidays. He wondered if Will had known when he prepared this tray how Mike would delight in it. 

The next bite he took was larger, and the next larger after that. Unbidden, the vision of Will on his knees before him fastening his garters to his lean calves, heavily lashed hazel eyes flickering green in the light as he gazed up at him with anxiety. He wondered if Will still enjoyed sweets the way he had as a child. He wondered if he might lick it off his thumb if he offered.

He took another bite, dragging his spoon through the cream and shoving it into his mouth greedily, as if it possessed him. When he finished it, he picked up the dish and licked it clean, until his tongue had found every sugary dreg, then carelessly dropped it onto the bedside table.

He stared into the flickering fire, catching his breath. When he shifted, he realized he was achingly hard between his legs, blood pulsing. His lip curled as he tore his nightshirt from his body, suddenly feeling hot and infuriatingly confined. @souverian-are-we
