Sandwiches for sips
This is my first fanfic, just fluffy sjips. I'm taking all constructive criticism ATM. I'm pretty bad but ill progress if I get positive feedback! Warnings- none, maybe swears Sjin "Sips..." Sjin sighed as he came in from school. His courses were really difficult, and he only really enjoyed the ones he and his huge crush, sips, shared. Well, that and cooking. He'd fallen in love with sips at primary school when they first met. But a boy liking another boy? That wasn't something he'd tell anyone. He'd still to tell anyone, in fact. Sjin had always been reclusive and shy, preferring his own thoughts than those of others. But sips, sjin thought, was the polar opposite. He always stood up in class and was always getting detentions for talking back. He was funny, and he had a strange greyish complexion, with piercing blue eyes and a beautiful crooked nose... Sjin shook his head. This was silly. But he'd never seen sips interested in dating anyone, which at least gave him something to dream about; which of course he did at every opportunity. "If only I could give him something that could be taken just as a friendly gift," he thought. Then it hit him- the one class he truly enjoyed! Cooking! Yes, he thought, while growing food is what I do best, I can just make him something that he'll enjoy! "A sandwich..." The more he thought about it, the better an idea it seemed. Just a friendly gift. Just even to test my cooking! Sjin knew what sips liked most in a sandwich; he'd watched lovingly from across the canteen each day for years. The next day sjin got up a little earlier than usual. "...tomato, cheese.. mmmm... Ok, it's not much but it's not supposed to be, right?" Sjin wrapped up the sandwiches along with his own and went off to courses. Waiting for lunch break wasn't easy, but he kept himself going with thoughts of sips' face, his hands, his arms, his whole body.... Drrring! Sjin sat up straight and bolted out the classroom before slowing himself down. "Ok, slowly, casually, just say you made too many this morning.... Wow, this is going to go terribly," he winced as he saw sips coming in from the other door of the canteen. He was on his own, which wasn't unusual but sjin thanked his lucky stars that he didn't have any friends with him. Their eyes caught from across the hall and they locked gazes for a second before sjin came to his senses and moved towards his love again, this time more nervous than before. Sips Gay? That didn't sound right for sips. He was a tough mother trucker, that was for sure. Well, while he acted tough, his mind was never on his work. But as sips thought about it, he realised that that's just what he must have been. Gay... Sjin was the only thing in his thoughts these days. It made sips sad to think that sjin would never feel the same way as sips did about him. The only way to stop the pain from these thoughts was to cut himself off from them. Pretend completely, disguise himself behind a tough exterior. And just stay away from sjin. Sjin... But today was strange, he hadn't been expecting anything different of today. However, sjin rushed into the other side of the canteen in a panic and suddenly stopped and visibly calmed himself down. He skimmed the crowd in the canteen and before sips could look away, their eyes locked and didn't move. He could see sjin's brown eyes and something melted inside him, something that he'd hidden from himself all these months. To his huge surprise, sjin then made his way towards him. What was he doing? Sjin Sips hadn't left eye contact for the whole time sjin came towards him, sjin's heart was beating out of his chest. He silently told it to shut up and took a deep breath as he approached sips. "Erm... Hello, sips" "Hi there. Sjin, was it?" "Yeah." He'd known his name! Sjin felt a burst of confidence as he carried on. "Well, in cookery I... Got bored when I'd finished my dish and made a couple too many sandwiches. I was wondering if you'd like to have them?" Sips Why him? What was this? Why did sjin choose him to give those to? He looked at them. They'd got all of his favourite things in them, he thought, but it was a coincidence, surely. "Well," sips said, "I'm not really that hungry..." Sjin's face fell just the slightest and sips realised he had to save the situation, if only to talk to sjin for a little longer. "But they look ok. Sure. I forgot mine this morning anyway." Sips took the sandwich out of sjin's hands and started unwrapping them. Sjin smiled nervously and said, "Well... Hope you like them. ...bye" And turned and walked out. Sips stared at the food and took a bite out of them. Wow. Sjin had a gift with food. This had been made with care. He finished them off and, both happy and sad that sjin had bought back the searing emotions that he'd locked away for so long, he threw his own sandwiches out. Which he had, of course, remembered that morning. He slept well that night, dreaming only of sjin. Sjin Sjin hadn't stopped smiling since he'd turned his back on sips. He was euphoric that the plan had actually worked. He was filled with confidence and a sense of purpose. The next morning, sjin made himself sandwiches as normal. He wouldn't go and do the same thing again, that'd just be suggestive of something. But at lunch, sjin was greeted by a bizarre surprise. Sips found him as he walked in from classes. He was as beautiful as ever, the way he carried his stocky form towards sjin made him lost for words as sips spoke casually. "Those sandwiches were nice. 8/10 quality, I'd say. I had to do homework this morning and rushed out without lunch... Got anything else for me today?" Sjin was not expecting to be asked again today, but there was no way he was leaving sips just empty handed. So he fumbled in his bag for his own lunch and handed it to sips as if they were just for him. Better off sips having them, he thought, as he smiled again and walked away empty handed and sat down at his own table. Sips To be honest, sips just wanted to hear sjin's voice again that lunch, so he too was surprised when he saw sjin actually give him something. Before he could say anything, sjin had left again and had sat across the canteen. Sips, staying cool as always, sat down where he was. Today, he looked at sjin at the lunch tables. "To hell with this, sjin's let himself into my life; may as well keep him there," thought sips as he admired his deep brown curls and slightly pointed ears. Only after around ten minutes did he realise that sjin hadn't eaten a thing, or even taken it out of his creeper rucksack. He looked down at sjin's barely touched sandwich and realised that he must have given up his only lunch for him. "Why the hell would he do that?" Sips wondered aloud, and for the first time ever, he wondered if sjin actually liked him enough to make those sacrifices for him. The sparks of hope he had long forgotten existed swirled in his head and made him dizzy with excitement. "What if sjin... Likes me too?" Sips didn't even care about his reputation anymore. He just wanted to know if sjin had feelings for him. Not sure of what he was going to say, he was just about to get up as sjin casually got up and walked out, oblivious to sips for once. Sips followed sjin, only to find him sat outside the front of the school building. It was cold and there was nobody here; did sjin usually go here? Sips shivered as he walked closer to sjin. Sjin Sjin had just been so lost in thought; he needed time to think alone. He went to the only place he knew there would be nobody- the wall in front of the school. Boy, it was a cold day today. Sjin was getting ready to sit down when sips just walked around the corner and came straight to him. "Crap! Does he know? How can he know? He thinks I'm strange now; oh my god, what was I thinking?!" Sips stood next to sjin as if to start a normal friendly conversation; in reality both of them were terrified of what the other was thinking. Sjin coughed and sips looked sjin straight in the eye as he spoke. "Did you give me your only lunch there, sjin?" "... Umm... " sjin couldn't avoid sips' eyes. He'd never wanted to until right now. Sips looked away and out across the empty football court, breaking the awkwardness if only slightly. "Why's you do that, ya big dumb- dumb?" "I-I- I didn't want you to go hungry today, sips..." "That food was yours! Why give it to a chump like me?" "... " "What if I really don't want you going hungry today either, sjin?" This was insane. Did sips just straight up admit that he liked him? "... Why would you care if I got hungry today, sips?" "I could ask you the same question, sjin, but maybe I'll say it's cause I straight up care about you," sips finished haltingly. This could go one of two ways, he thought, and as of now he didn't give a shit which way. The silence grew and he could see sjin smiling slightly. "Sips?" "Yes?" "What did you really do this morning?" "... Woke up, watched tv and walked out the door..." "Without a sandwich." "Without a sandwich, sjin." Sjin was so happy that sips cared about him! He noticed that sips still had the sandwich in his huge coat pocket. "You haven't touched mine, in any case," sjin said. "O-oh, you, um, wanna go halves on it?" "Sips, I'm really not hungry for just the sandwich anymore." And as they leaned in, both sips and sjin were glad they were alone in the cold November fields. And in case you were wondering, sips' sandwiches are crap. But sjin eats them all anyway.
