✨ FICTION AESTHETIC
character archetype: hero / mentor / ally / herald / trickster / shapeshifter / guardian / antiherogenre: fantasy / historical fiction / science fiction / mystery / realistic fiction / westernformat: stand alone novel / novel series / tv show / movie / play / musicalconflict: you’re a master magician in a world where magic is fading. all you want is to train apprentices and give magic back to the world. you want to see the magical creatures start returning to the land and the plants that glow faintly at night, glowing brighter. but, being the only powerful magician is getting to be a pain in your ass. every time your students learn how to conjure fire, a hero shows up begging for help with something. you helped them at first but you’re starting to get sick of their shit. it’s slowing your students’ learning and thus slowing your wish to see magic thrive again. so maybe you start spreading rumors that the dragons all fled west in order to save the few hiding in the eat. and maybe when a knight asks for help finding a princess, you give him an enchanted map leading him the other way. (you and the princess are pen pals. she’s in love with the girl who delivers her food every day and doesn’t need a knight.) some people call what you’re doing sabotage. your students question why you’re not helping every one. but you tell them, a magician can’t be an ally all the time. sometimes switching sides is good if it gets you what you want. and it does, eventually you see the magic return
