Re: Marvel makeup. They don't have the confidence to show their top billed actors as anything not perfect. The face that sells the movie in their eyes. This whole two strategic cuts on the face is a systemic thing. Hell RDJ got one tiny cut after getting hit by a MOON. It reminds me how Joss told Lizzie back in Avengers 2 to keep her face neutral and not do any angry grimaces while she was filming Wanda fights. I have heard some industry people were shocked by how Charlize had giant bruises and black eye in Atimic blonde. As in "how can you allow the face of your movie be damaged and not the perfect picture of beauty even though she had been in a fight for her life 3 seconds ago?!" Infuriating.

Uh...cuz...people how they're hot anyway??? Like...we all know Charlize Theron is a bombshell even if you give her black eyes after a fight? What? That's...what? Fuck off. I would so much rather see something REALISTIC and that fits the story than see the pretty face I see on the press junket or their social media every day anyway. That's supposed to be the whole fucking point of the movie/show, no?

Going off what anon said about jrot being terrible and the things he could've done in the finale, is anyone else old enough to remember the bullshit that was pulled with Tara's death on Buffy? Jossy boy not only killed Tara directly after her and Willow's reunion, he shot her directly through the heart so they couldn't even say goodbye. And then? He tried to use her as the big bad. He actively tried to bring the actress back to have her be evil and terrorize her love interest. He had every intention of doing it except the actress either wouldn't do it or couldn't because of scheduling (she's said both at different times depending on who she's talking to so I tend to believe the latter.) Please understand how unbelievably terrible it could've actually turned out. Fuck jrot with a rusty nail for everything he and his team did to us, but I'll still take and be happy with this ending as it is for what it is. Clexa soulmates and untainted Lexa

Ugh Spiffy Bleagh. That whole thing gave be whiplash back in the day. I mean SMG and James acted the hell out of what they were given, but the writing was so atrocious, toxic and just straight up evil just nope all the way. Spiffy was what made me do a 180 on Joyless Whedon and his fakewokiness on top of one of the first BYG instances I saw on TV as a teen. Looking back I have a very conflicting opinion on Buffy as a whole.

Oh, I mean...Buffy absolutely does NOT stand the test of time in almost any way but when you watch it in the context of the period it emerged from it’s still pretty progressive for back then. I hate when people retroactively try to cancel pieces of media or comedians or a random famous person for shit they did years ago when it was perfectly normal and acceptable to still do them. You can’t and shouldn’t hold our current standards to things that happened/were made/were said five, ten, fifteen, twenty, or fifty years ago. It’s fucking nonsensical.

The whole point of society is to move forward so obviously when looking back some things are going to be “problematic” but you can’t judge things from the past by present day standards. When you think about how Buffy started airing in the late 90s and still got away with some of the stuff it did, you have to give Whedon whatever little credit he earned because that show DID help push all sorts of representation on TV forward, including both for female characters and queer rep.

Is he a piece of shit? He is. Did he make many mistakes on the show? Without a doubt. Do we still need to thank him for pushing the envelope A LOT and helping get us where we are today? We should.

With Whedon... a certain amount of criticism is completely valid. & ofc a lot o his ideas havent evolved past the 90s & how he handled Charisma's pregnancy is disgusting... but most of the actual hate comes from that stupid avengers movie he did. Ppl don't realize that a studio gives u a giant checklist of shit you HAVE to do in those movies... so 90% of what ppl complain about should be directed to the studio. But thats kinda tumblr in a nutshell.

Oh lol...it’s Marvel drama? Nevermind. I don’t care then. I’ll still think he’s a great writer and showrunner. Superhero movies have no bearing on that.

U r all wrong. If u fail in hollywood they kill u & sell ur meat. They then make a robot version & they replace it each time it fails. So amy acker & anyone else who works w/ whedon are like on their third model. Its why some actors look like they never age.

I really like Whedon TV shows. I also quite like how you talk about stuff you like and don't like and I don't think I've ever heard your take on Firefly/Buffy/Dollhouse etc

Definite yes. Around that same time you had pregnant women working on Sex & The City, Will & Grace, Friends, and ER just to name a few. Even back then what happened was uncommon and Joss going on an ego trip, but even more so particularly over a decade later. That’s just not something that commonly happens. At all. Not unless a network/studio/showrunners want a PR scandal and a discrimination lawsuit on their hands. It just isn’t a thing.
