I thought Mao retired after 2014?
Mao said before Sochi that she would retire after the 2014 season, but after winning back her world title at the end of the season she said there was a chance she would continue after taking a break.
She took the 14-15 season off, and then came back last season where she was inconsistent but overall had a good comeback (she made the GPF and placed seventh at Worlds). This year she is suffering a knee injury, so she’s been competing watered down programs all season (no triple axel, no triple-triple). She tried to go for them at Japanese Nationals in an attempt to make the World Team, but she popped the triple axel in the SP, fell on it during the free, and then under-rotated the flip-loop combo in the free. Which is shame, because in my opinion, her two programs this season are the best she has ever had.

I thought of that dress when I wrote this haha. I think the dress was actually blue and black, but I don’t want to get into that...either way it’d definitely get her attention haha
