✎ our muses going to a costume ball together
“You look lovely,” Derek murmured softly, extending his hand for Liliana to take. It was a simple costume party, but it was no secret how extensive and elaborate people dressed themselves for an event like this. It was just another way to show off the designers and outfits like some informal fashion show. He stepped up to her carefully, adjusting the masquerade mask covering her eyes. “Thank you for coming with me tonight. I figured it’d be… something fun for us to do,” he said quietly, glancing around the place himself. He hated attending these functions alone, so it was always nice to have a friend he could rely on and have fun with; even when he was wearing a ridiculous outfit with masks like so for the night.
❊ a regret my muse has about your muse
Lying back in his bed, Derek flipped through his phone idly. Part of his mind drifted, his hazel eyes skimming the brightly-lit image on the handheld device’s screen. There was a moment where he paused in his thoughts, a flickering memory running through his mind as he stared at the photo. Liliana was sitting across from him, wine glass in hand. He’d been cross with her that evening, annoyed that it was the third or so dinner date where she had shown up late. She had given some excuse about how there was overtime work that came up at the station, but Derek was finding it harder and harder to believe. Of course, he didn’t know what she did at the time. As the young man stared at the picture, he regretted how that conversation had gone. It wasn’t like it had altered the course of their relationship, but now that Derek knew what he knew, he was sure Liliana had been dealing with things outside of her normal job. His expectations and annoyance at how busy their work schedules had been led to a less enjoyable night, blowing up into some argument that was never really resolved. Perhaps he should call her tonight, apologize for that moment. It was a resting memory in his mind, and Derek was certain that he wouldn’t be able to think about anything else until he had resolved the lingering regrets.
♉ our muses are together when they get ambushed
There’s a small part of Derek that grew to dislike vampires. Not that he had anything against them in general, but that they had the absolute worst timing and seemed insistent on showing up just to try and eat him or something. He didn’t understand what it was that made him so prone to being jumped by them, but the young man was certainly grateful to be with Liliana in the moment. Given their previous conversations and his own experiences, Derek was less phased by the supernatural, though he still didn’t know how to handle them. He stared at the approaching vampire, clearly unnerved by the way the supernatural creature was eyeing the two of them. “…Do we run? Can we even outrun a vampire?” he whispered, figuring he should let his ex take the lead on this.
