Do you have a Kabby AU that you’ve been wanting to write but have been lacking motivation? Are you an artist who’s been a little low on inspiration lately? Then the Slackru Big Bang might be just what you need!
What’s a Big Bang? (Description taken directly from Fanlore) A Big Bang specific type of challenge that involves long fics and accompanying artwork. Writers sign up and begin writing stories. When the early drafts of the stories are available, each one is matched with an artist. Artists create fanart to go along with the story. This art can take the form of illustrations, manips, photo collages, vids, icon sets, etc.

What are the requirements for the Slackru Big Bang? You can sign up either as an artist, a writer, or both!
As a writer:
Must create a complete work that is a minimum of 10,000 words. Can be a maximum of whatever you can churn out in the allotted amount of time.
Must be a work that is completely new or previously unpublished. Basically, you can’t use Big Bang to finish a languishing WIP you may have floating around.
Since this is sponsored by the KabbyFam Slack, Kabby should be the main pairing of your work. Of course, other pairings are more than welcome, but it should primarily be focused on Kabby.
As an artist:
Create a work in whatever medium you are comfortable using, on which you spend a minimum of 3-5 hours creating.
Work with your assigned writer to come up with a project that best showcases the written work and your talents.
**Note for participating artists: A few weeks into the Big Bang, you will be given a detailed summary of each of the fics. You will then asked to list your top three fic preferences and will be matched accordingly. You will not have to create art for a fic that does not inspire you. :)
What is the timeline?
Sign-ups open until May 26th
Artist x Writer match-up form released June 9th
Artist x Writer matchup finalized June 12th
Mostly completed 10,000 minimum fic draft due to artists June 30
Deadline for both writers and artists July 16th
Post to Ao3 (as a collection) and on Slackru tumblr July 17th

What’s the purpose of the Slackru tumblr?
Basically, think of this as a Kabbyfam Slack newsletter. While Slack has an immediacy and intimacy that’s great for building relationships, it’s also much less asynchronous than Tumblr or Twitter - meaning that people have a tendency to feel like they’ve missed out if they can’t be on consistently. This tumblr is a way to catch people up who can’t be in the Slack all the time. We still want you to feel included and a part of the community even if you are unable to join in as often as you’d like! This tumblr will feature member generated content such as:
fun or interesting snippets of conversation from various channel discussions (cuz we love to make each other suffer, cry and laugh, my dudes)
member created fics/headcanons/graphics (cuz we are super talented, fam)
random, funny tidbits (cuz we are hilarious, y’all)
It will also house important announcements like:
group watches (because tell me you don’t want to watch You’ve Got Mail together and think of the AU potential)
fic collaborations (like the PLACES IN BECCA’S HOUSE SMUT COLLAB WE GOT GOING ON)
slackru meetups (UNITY DAYS 2018, Y’ALL)
