i just turned 30 this year and it's become kind of a pleasant surprise when i find people around my age in my fandoms (that I hadn't already been following from forever ago)!! i also was always used to being the average age, so recently i've just been feeling old lmao (P.S. I absolutely love your art, your style is lovely!!)

When I was in college one year, my roommate and I each bought a box of melon ice pops. She would eat one of hers when she wanted a pick-me-up, and ran out after a couple of months. I would eat one of mine when i was happy and carefree, and my box still had extra at the end of the year.

hair as black as night

So this morning I looked in the mirror and I saw my untamed hair, taking up loads of space and stark against the white bathroom walls, and I had the half-asleep thought that “Woah, it is so weird how dark my hair is. It’s unnatural. I must have dyed it.”

I did not dye it, and it is not an unnatural color. Black is the most common hair color in the world.

Why did I think it was odd? I suggested to my friend that it is because in the movies, girls are always dying their hair black or putting on black wigs.

I realized I was struggling to name movies where the female lead had naturally black hair. Even when she is a poc who would have naturally black hair, often it has been dyed to a lighter color.

to the anon with the bullies: please, please, please tell someone. they really deserve to get in trouble. i was in a super similar situation in high school and i just held everything in and let them keep picking on me and thought i was doing the right thing at the time because i didn't want to get anyone in trouble and i thought it wasn't a big deal. now that i'm older and i know better, i know that i was really stupid to not do something about it. no one ever deserves to be treated that way.
