👫 give me some uncle & nephew bonding time bc i need it
send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship
1. Shinki adores his uncle despite sometimes appearing as if he is annoyed by him. It wasn’t only Gaara that saved Shinki, Kankurou had a large part in it as well. There are times when Shinki finds himself scared that Kankurou isn’t aware of how important he is to him, so he will sometimes leave small gifts for his uncle to find such as embroidery projects or succulents from his collection.
2. Shinki was the one that asked Kankurou to help him learn more about puppetry, and Kankurou almost cried with joy that his nephew wanted to learn from him. Shinki didn’t expect to be hugged so tightly about something that he considered trivial at first, but soon realized how important the craft was to Kankurou. Since then he’s taken the art very seriously.
3. Shinki was actually pretty scared of Kankurou when they met for the first time. Shinki wore his face paint as an orphan to make sure others stayed away from him, as a defensive mechanism to appear dangerous, and seeing Kankurou’s hood and face paint made Kankurou also look dangerous. It was only after he saw Kankurou without his face paint that Shinki was more comfortable around him, and now the face paint doesn’t bother him at all. Kankurou was even the one who taught him how to apply face paint properly in traditional patterns on his own.
4. When Gaara was busy with his Kazekage duties, it was always Kankurou that took care of Shinki once he was home from his Academy lessons. Though, Kankurou wasn’t the best at cooking meals, and because of that Shinki quickly became self-sufficient as far as cooking proper meals for himself (and his uncle and father). Kankurou would always tuck him into bed, however, and tell him a goofy story before it was time to sleep.
