This was more conflict than Khianna had ever seen. Supposedly, it was over now. No more fighting. Unfortunately, the doctor suspected that it would never truly end. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she sighed before getting up and leaving her office to walk around the hospital and check on things. She wouldn’t do such a thing often, but desperate times call for desperate measures. 

After making her way down to the first level, she spotted a familiar figure looking somewhat disoriented. “Kaden?” She questioned as she approached the man. “Kaden, what’s going on?”

She’d waited. And waited. And honestly, there wouldn’t have been a time long enough for her to wait. Ollie was still missing, but she couldn’t do anything until he was found: she was ill-equipped to search the woods, after all. So she waited. Barely sleeping, and when she did, it was in uncomfortable hospital chairs. She spent the nights she was forced back to her house pacing, or reading, or trying to put on a brave face. But mostly… she waited. 

When she was finally allowed into the room, she did so eagerly albeit cautiously. She swallowed heavily against the tears which wanted to come up, instead pushing a determined tone into her voice. “I’ll see if you need another pillow, if you want,” she said, eyes eagerly taking him in. “How do you feel?”

“I’m here!” Adaline called out, not wanting to disturb Isaac’s privacy, especially since she was later than she had told him she would be. “I’m so sorry I’m late.”

She waited until the festival was coming to a close for the night. And, when she knew that the guards would be done, she made her way to Isaac’s. She knew he would likely be tired, but it felt like they hadn’t seen each other –– other than for brief moments –– in forever. Spying a familiar figure, she grinned. “Having fun?”

It didn’t take her long at all to load the freshly-baked cookies onto a plate, wrap it up, and check her reflection in the mirror. She looked like she had just finished a long day, but he’d already seen her water-soaked, so she hoped Isaac wouldn’t mind. Quietly opening the door to her house, Adaline moved carefully down the path, thanking the twilight that no one had seen her. The trip to Isaac’s house was a short one, and she knocked on his door, waiting for him to open up. When the door opened, she grinned at him. “Cookie?”
