This is KADEUCE PORTER, the amazing young man I’ve had the pleasure of bringing to life in the world we created called ‘Seven Seconds’. I was so scared at first of being typecast, judged and looked down upon for taking this role. But fear holds no weight over here and has never stopped me from following my dreams. I just had to let all of my vanity/insecurities to be stripped away to allow him to come through. So thankful to our team of writers for writing a three-dimensional character that I believe subverts a lot of what’s been portrayed, the cast & crew who pushed/encouraged me to bring the best of what I had. This story is dedicated to, Emmitt, Trayvon, Mike B., Eric G., Kalief, Sandra, Brenton and all of the nameless voiceless who perished and/or had their black lives disregarded. To the guys I grew up with, who’s lives took another turn, this performance is dedicated to any young man/woman who has ever felt like they were a burden to the world when all they wanted was to be loved. No agenda! Those who are trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be in the world. To the brothers and sisters who wanted so much more for their lives, but felt the streets were the only way out and begrudgingly worked against their own potential. This is for YOU. SEVEN SECONDS came across my desk at the right time, its since not only been a blessing to my career, but my to life even after wrapping. It was my intention everyday to bring this character to life with Heart, Soul & Integrity. I just pray that this project touches lives, I pray that this story opens hearts/minds and sparks so many necessary conversations around the WORLD (192 countries 😳). Just know this, Kadeuce ain’t no thug & he for damn sure ain’t no punk! I just hope that you all can embrace and see him for who he is, HUMAN.
