The call over her com unit came like every other and it was simply that she had been needed within the establishment. She remembered it well, walking in and pulling the curtains back as the normal hustle and bustle continued around her. There had been a small emergency and it was one of the familiar doctors that rushed to Kaevia’s side, “They’ve been asking for you.” a puzzled look had been casted to the doctor whens he ushered the Priestess towards one of the halls, “Someone found him along the ground in the city. He was inconsolable.”
“ How long have they been here?”
“ Nearly half an hour, the staff are hooking him up to a machine now.”
The door had opened and the Doctor pulled Kaevia through the door. The sight before was enough to leave her heart at her feet as she watched the familiar person writhe along the bed, two of the staff members had been trying to calm him and despite their efforts, his screams filled the room. Her eyes flashed wide at the sight and like slow motion she watched as he swatted away the hands and needles that came towards him.
“ I know him.” Was all she managed and her eyes stayed transfixed to the patient the Doctor to her side snapped her fingers to the other two staff members and the moment they had pulled away. The man slowed his motions along the bed with a final -thunk- and the group pulled towards the back of the room. Balled fists had been made and he began pressing them viciously at his eyes, muffled whimpers and words left him and slowly the Priestess stepped to the side of the bed, “Ley.”
And everything held still.
The doctor and her staff stood ever still near the door and Tayleriel’s fists pulled from his eye sockets, flesh red and bruised. He had been a complete mess, drenched in blood and his clothing tattered. Dalaran had done quite the number on him and his physical being, but his actions spoke louder and those words told the Priestess that his mental being was broken. His eyes made contact with hers and she held her hand out for the three, “Leave, I’ll handle this and call for you if he needs assistance.”
“ Miss Sun’rael but he nee–”
“ He’ll be fine. I’ll see to him for now. Give me 10 minutes.” there was no argument and the trio quietly slipped from the small room, “Ley..” she quietly spoke and lowered herself to the side of his bed where her knees met the floor, “ Can you hear me? You’re home.” His eyes hadn’t left her and they remained widened as his hands lifted towards her face. The essence of shocked played about his features and dirt stained thumbs pulled across her cheeks.
“ You’re dead. Where am I?”
“ I’m not dead and this is very much real. You’re home, Ley. Silvermoon.” by now her eyes had brimmed with warm moisture. Nysaira had prevailed.
Shaking her head she lifted her hands to take his own, “ You’re alive, I’m alive and you’re home. You’re safe my friend. I promise you. I promise you. You can explain everything to me after but you need to relax so that the ladies can see to you. You’re in bad shape.”
“ Don’t leave! You can’t leave!”
“ I’m not leaving. I’ll stay right here with you until they release you.”
Listing forward, she carefully cradled his head to her shoulder and afforded him with a gentle hug, “ I’m not leaving.” She whispered again for his own sense of comfort, her hand raking up along the back of his curls, “ You’re alright.”
A few moments had passed and Kaevia had finally pulled away from Taleyriel to get a better look at him, to gauge his expression but it was not he who she held so carefully. Blackened eyes stared at her and blonde curls wrapped about her fingers. With a jolt, Kaevia stumbled back and the echoed laughter filled the room before Selaenice crawled from the bed, the entire room began to erupt into flames.
With a jolt, Kaevia had sat up in her bed with such force she felt dizzy and lightheaded. It was nearly dusk from what she could see from the lighting around her in her room, her eyes barely adjusting to the contents around her. Her entire body trembled, palms were tacky as she clenched the bedsheets, the book along her side was the first thing her eyes settled on and she finally realized what had happened.
Falling asleep while reading wasn’t uncommon for the Priestess and happened more often with how much she had spent awake during the late hours letting her mind wander and worries to catch up with her. Nightmares weren’t peculiar either as she had her fair share during the issues with Enomea’s grimoire but she never endured a nightmare where reality melded with something that was impossibly egregious.
She had finally swung her legs around to the side of the bed, her hands still shaking as she gripped the sheets and the door to her chambers opened, “ I heard you yell, is everything alright?” A newly familiar voice came but the Priestess hung her head and gave a faint nod, “I…I’m fine.” A hand lifted to her throat as she felt the dryness within her esophagus, “ Thank you Zahen, I’m fine.” she repeated once more. Not a single look or glance was given over her shoulder to the company and in that she heard the door click closed.
At this rate she wasn’t sure if it was worse to relive that moment of her life where Dalaran had locked away a piece of her; damaging it, or if the unknown and Selaenice were.
