let's say your job is to sort paperclips.
they come in a lot of colors, which is great, but they keep getting mixed up. so somebody hired you to sort them out.
so all day, people hand you any new paperclips they've made, and you have a bunch of little buckets for each color, and you put them in the right bucket often enough that you get to have a house and food.
and now you get trusted with the New paperclips. people are inventing new Colors, and new Shapes, but it's not a problem! you can always invent a new bucket.
and then somebody comes along with, like, sixty paperclips. and they're all glued together.
and then they sit there and they ask you "hey, so. which bucket are these going in?"
because see, they also get to have a house and food, but only when they're getting their paperclips into buckets. if those things aren't making it into buckets, gravy train's over.
and today, well. they had So Many paperclips.
and they all need to go in a bucket.
and what's easier to dunk in a bucket than a solid wad of paperclips and glue?
but see, your food and house depends on the paperclips going into the Right Bucket, and there's no bucket for inexcusable sins against the earth and it's creatures (you asked) so you tell them that.
and they're like "uh, hey, I don't care, I just need these things in a bucket."
so you tell them, well. take this horror back, and give them to me separately. then we can bucket your clips.
and they're like "sounds weird but ok" and they leave and you forget about it until next week, when sixty lumps irredeemable filth show up in your bucket area with a note saying "here's those sixty separate paperclips you wanted now do your job, also I'm angry."
and you look at them and realize they've taken every paperclip from the original glob, chiseled them out, and then glued each of those... to an exact copy of the original glob.
anywho. had a great day at the office today
would you guys still like me if i actually looked like this irl?…….. u probably wouldnt……. whatever……. just forget it…
