BON LES COPAINS OPEN CALL Ça va paraître hyper nase mais je m'en fous Je me suis rendue compte récemment que ça me manque pas mal de parler français dans un contexte casual, autre que familial (et avec ma chaaiiiriiiee évidemment mais ça c'est autre chose). Alors s'il y a des francophones qui ont envie de causer avec moi régulièrement, ça serait super cool, merci (ben non je ne mendie pas des potes, du tout....(j'ai plein de potes juste plus assez de francophones et ma langue me manque BOUH))

Hey, hello ! I just saw your monthly post (that I happily await each month) and you didn't put "High Rise" in your favorites. I see many people going on and on about it, but don't know if it's because Tom Hiddleston has a huge fanbase or because it's really good. What did you think of it ? :) thanks

I was disappointed by it to be honest. I liked Wheatley’s earlier films Kill List and A Field in England very much and had read some J G Ballard in my teens (though not High-Rise) and had heard that it’s SF and allegorical themes were to be set in a near future which looked very like the 1970s, and it all sounded very much like something I’d love, but it just didn’t click with me. Visually it’s impressive at times but the story seemed confused and the descent into chaos too fast and acquiesced to by the residents too easily.

Still I’d watch it if you can to make your own mind up. I plan to watch it again soon-ish to see if it was just me having a bad day when I watched it!

i am sorry, i seem to have overreacted. i am usually rather defensive going on agressive and im also having a bad day and then took it out on you.

i hope the first paragraph of my initial reply answered some of your questioning on to why i chose that quote in relation to the movie.

Why would you take a quote used to describe the first use of a nuclear bomb for the Trinity Test in WW2 for your fiction feels about Star Wars ? I don’t feel very right about that.

i find that comparing the scientific ‘experiment’ of the very first nuclear bomb detonation which set in motion a chain of events which created the (bloody) history we have today and marked a turning point in both what is by now our past and will be our future and killed aroung 200 thousand people is very fitting to the rise of an empire which terrorised an entire galaxy of people by supression, fear, propaganda and overwhelming weapons power for over 20 years. that too marked a turning point in the history of an entire -yes, fictional- galaxy. i think the quote is very fitting of the movie, and shows up a remarkable number of parallels between the two events and for that it doesnt matter that star wars is a work of fiction.

to be honest, it doesnt matter to me that you ‘dont feel right about it’. i made the gifset and i posted it on my blog, where i can do whatever i want to, and i personally like it and i think it is fitting. so whether or not you approve does, in fact, make absolutely no difference. however, if it does bother you so much you could have just not reblogged it and forgotten about it, instead of reblogging it only to say you dont like it.

Bandol! Entre Toulon et Marseille, donc plutôt plein sud que sud-ouest. Je ferai ça (je mets toujours des tonnes de crème solaire :) et je dois étudier mais j’aurais le temps de me reposer un peu. Toi aussi, profite bien!!!
