I love this game (and Pillika) so much I have multiple documents written about it (review, headcanons, fanfic, video essay I’m never making etc) the brainrot is so dire.
I’m going through diabolical KaguPilli brainrot atm but don’t have time to draw (just moved houses) so please have this little ramble of how their kids turn out. Since the game itself doesn’t have that much content for after marriage, this is mostly just for fun and some of my headcannons I think about when I can’t sleep. I wanna draw their family dynamic + aged up kids at some point.
Please be aware of post game/post marriage spoilers (esp for Pillika’s bonding quests)!
1st kid: Hana (bob with cherry pin, energetic personality, short sword, buffer)
- Kaguya’s hair and Pillika’s eyes (ahoge/bedhead inherited from Kaguya)
- Good at all things combat related, learns hunting from Pillika
- Personality is like Kaguya’s when she was younger, eventually calms down as she matures
- Trains under Murasame in the way of the sword
- Favourite uncle/aunties are Matsuri, Kai, Hinata and Ulalaka
- Likes foods that have heavy flavours such as sweet, spicy and sour foods
- Plays pranks with Kotaro, likes to hang out with Suzu in her spare time.
- As a demigod, her title is Vibrant Guardian of the Hunt
- Can see spirits (inherited from Pillika), she uses the spirits to communicate to her mother sometimes
- Personality is more like Pillika
- Trains under Hisui and then Ikaruga
- Favourite uncle/aunties are Fubuki, Ulalaka and Kurama
- Likes milder foods, prefers seafood over meat (a bit picky)
- Really good at video games (plays with Kurama and beats him)
- As a demigod, her title is Sage Wisdom of the Dragon
Both kids:
- Receive training from both their parents. Pillika trains them in hunting and spiritual affairs while Kaguya trains them in combat, dance and Shrine Maiden duties.
- Demigod status received from Mihoshi Habaki after going through the same trials their mother went through. (I am ignoring the fact she pissed off to the heavenly realm after giving godhood to Kaguya, she can always come back and bless her kids too lol)
- Hana has a bit of a superiority complex since she thinks Sayo inherited all the good traits from their parents and she was left with nothing (which is not true)
- Sayo really looks up to Hana but is jealous over her ability to connect with other people. She’s very shy even after growing up and has a hard time building relationships
- They both become Dragon Priestesses but Sayo prefers to stay in the shrine tending to paperwork/requests from the villagers while Hana is more out and about, greeting the people and helping out with hunts.
Other notes:
- Both children receive an Ainu inspired name from Pillika as part of their coming of age ceremony (names have yet to be decided but will correlate with the titles they will receive as demigods)
- In the main timeline, Kaguya did not choose godhood, it was ‘bestowed’ upon her without her consent. She is effectively immortal until the next pantheon of gods show up (if they ever do)
- Pillika dies of old age after living 104 years. After she dies, Kaguya retires as the Sovereign of the Gods and leaves her duties to her kids. She goes back to her old village to spend some time to grieve, but eventually comes back and lives in Pillika’s old house in the winter village.
- Those who are mortal in the main story go on to have families. Maybe even some of the gods do as well. Generations continue as Azuma continues to thrive under the Gods’ and their descendants’ watch.
- In another timeline, where godhood is inherited from birth (ignoring the turnip), Hana is mortal while only Sayo is a demigod as Kaguya only receives the status of godhood after her first child has already been born. In this timeline, both Pillika and Hana die from an ‘accident’ during a hunting trip, driving Kaguya insane with grief and causes her to lose control over her divinity, with disastrous outcomes for Azuma . This sets up a scenario where Sayo, dealing with her own grief and turmoils, has to stop her mother’s rage with the help of the other 6 gods (aka RFGoA 2 electric boogaloo a la RF2’s generations mechanic)
- Fun fact: I originally planned on having Sayo be the first child and Hana as the second as the bear ears would look soooo cute with Hana’s bob hair style but I accidentally clicked randomise on the ‘choosing the personality’ screen and that’s how I ended up with Hana as first child. I did choose Sayo for the second child and she is adorable with bear ears so it works out in the end. I could very easily swap their birth order but decided to stick with what I got since I think it makes for a more interesting time writing headcanons for them.
