Kai Uchacz?

a bit surprised to see someone ask about him. since he doesn't have the best track record as being a good person off the ice, especially in his junior days. when he played with the whl seattle thunder birds (2018), he was racist to his OWN black teammate, mekai sanders, calling him a racial slur and even pretending to be a monkey with a banana to taunt him, then went onto claim it was just a joke that he didn't know was "offensive". he got dropped from the tbirds and then went to play for the red deer rebels for the rest of his junior career.

after some time in 2023, he came out and made a whole spheel on how he's a changed person, tried to contact mekai to apologize and took the proper steps to educate himself. i do understand people deserve second chances and yes people can actually change.

but it seemed SUPER performative, since it only seemed to have been adressed at a convient timing for him which was because in 2023 he was selected to be the rebels captain and was receiving backlash and 2023 is also his draft year! so i mean, no better way to start your image rebrand when you got some crucial things going on in your life and career, where your image is taken into account and looked into.

(id reccomend even looking at some of the articles of the incident yourself.)

he did just sign a entry level contract with the vegas golden knights, very recently. not surprised since the league does tolerate openly problematic people, anways.
