Apprentice Week Day 4: Animals
Fontana
Kaia has a familiar by the name of Fontana. Fon is an owl griffin, and her coloring is white, pink, and purple. Fon is very adventurous and free spirit. She doesn’t spend all of her time with Kaia, she goes on adventures and comes back days later. Usually with a gift for Kaia like a crystal or herb she has found.
The Griffin care tremendously for Kaia, even though she isn’t around much. Fon is very protective of her friend who tends to trust people too often and too much. She was even uneasy around Asra at first, and absolutely hated Faust. But now she is adored by Asra and vice versa. Faust and her are best friends when Fon is around.
Kaia understands Fon’s love for the wild and doesnt mind her leaving often. Except when both Fon and Asra are gone, then the shop is always lonely.
Kaia found Fontana in the marketplace when the griffin was a small cub. She was being shown as an exotic animal from the north. People paid to feed the half starved cub to see how she moved and some even paid to poke at her and make her screech. Kaia, being the kind soul she is, begged the store keep to buy her off him. He refused. The little dancer had begged and pleaded, but the shopkeep said the owl-griffin mad too much money for him.
With tears in her eyes, Kaia had run to her Aunt with a broken heart for the animal. Furious at her nieces unhappiness, her Aunt stormed to the shop and tore through the man. He kept saying he wouldn’t sell the griffin. Then Kaia’s Aunt threatened the man about his karma, with a sparkle in her eyes that meant that karma wasn’t going to be the only thing he was going to worry about.
After much arguing (and threatening) Kaia’s Aunt bought the griffin for nearly nothing. At the start, Fon hated everyone except for Kaia and never left her side for over a year. The only place that Fon would go except for Kaia’s side was to play in the fountain in the plaza square of Vesuvia. As such, Fontana earned her name. Fontana meaning fountain.
