Things I realized about myself because of Falling Into Your Smile

I like the chase - the start where it’s fun, and we’re in the bickering state, and everyone knows but it’s not official. The jealous glares that incite cute comic romantic moments that make you swoon and squeal

I like the falling - the middle where things shift and soft moments cut in between the bickering. Small touches, stolen glances. Beating hearts and secret smiles.

I like the happy ever after - the montage of cuddles by the couch, laughing at nothing at all because the joy just bubbles up, flowers in your hair as I say my vows

What I don’t like is the rest of the story, unseen, and the only think real. I don’t like when the male hero is anything less than ideal and he falters and the heroine needs to comfort him. I don’t like the small changes you make to make space for a person in your life. Things like agreeing to call a boy to help me when other boys harrass me when I was perfectly able to care for myself. Things like agreeing to change my clothes. Things like suddenly fighting the press and forsaking your friends because ultimately things have changed and you have family now.

But ultimately - I can see how beautiful a love like that can be for some people. I’m just not sure if love is at all for me.
