* winter things — ft kai.
by the time the end of the year had rolled around, peyton was scrambling to complete christmas presents. it wasn’t as if she had a budget to begin with (money was scarce, paling in comparison to the amount of friends she has) so quite the lot of them, save her brother and a selected few, had to settle for groovy (at least, she thought they were) shirts.
but kai, she believed, deserved something a little more special.
( though she had made the mistake of asking what he wanted—a slug, he said? a slug?—but never say she doesn’t “deliver”. )
stalking through emptying halls, it wasn’t hard to spot the boy (taller than her, a souring thought even now), eyes brightening as she races forward, present in hand. “kai!” she calls out with a small wave, catching up easily once the boy’s steps slow, arm slipping around his with ease.
“hey!” peyton greets, breathless with a dazzling grin. “i really thought i wasn’t going to catch you before you went home.”
