Things Akira Touya has done while claiming he dgaf about Hikaru Shindou

Go to a tournament where they both were participating and then walk in front of him just to show him he's being ignored

Try to guess how Hikaru is playing by the sound of the go stones on the board because he doesn't wanna show he's interested

Only watch Hikaru's game while his back is turned so he doesn't notice

Follow closely Hikaru's development as a player.

Have other people inform him of the games Hikaru play, and then study said games so much he can recreate them from memory.

Travel across Tokyo on foot just to go harass/yell at Hikaru in an internet cafe

Jump to the opportunity to mentor a kid because he's taking the same exam as Hikaru just to try to get information out of him

Train said kid to defeat Hikaru in a game out of spite (he doesn't try to do it himself because he dgaf about Hikaru, remember?)

Harass Hikaru (again) after he suddenly quits go

Hikaru and Sai's relationship is so curious and so special because, Sai is older than Hikaru, and he's the one teaching him Go, so in a normal situation there would be a clear power dynamic between the two, but because Sai is incapable of interacting with the world without Hikaru's consent, the power imbalance is gone. Also, because of Sai's childish personality and lack of knowledge of the modern world, there are moments in which Hikaru becomes Sai's teacher and has to put up with his tantrums. It's like they take turns into becoming each other's bratty little brother. Also by the time Hikaru becomes an insei they act like twins sometimes, completely in-sync (so cute).

I think, at some point, Sai started to bleed into Hikaru. Like, he was a friend and a teacher, but Sai became a part of him. Sai was Go, and Go became Hikaru's life, so Sai became an intrinsic part of his own identity as a person. Sadly Hikaru didn't notice any of this until Sai was gone. That's also why it hurts so much, Hikaru quite literally lost a part of himself that day

I haven’t talked about kotz in a while but I wanted to ask, since you helped me out when I was first getting started with it..

I heard somewhere that Kurumada said Deathmask is “good with language,” and if that claim is actually true.. what does that really mean, as in, does he know a lot of languages, or is it meant more in that he is a poet?? That kind of confused me haha

Okay to be completely honest I had no idea what you were talking about,but I asked around with my sts moots on Twitter and apparently it is true.

Apparently DM is exceptionally good at picking up and speaking languages, and it appeared in the Shion interviews, in which Kurumada basically did RP as Shion to answer fan questions. I am busy rn but I'll post the specific question if I find it
