i thought of writing the blue eyes monologue from paedyn's pov, or rather the famous "what's your favorite color?" scene, since she didn't give an answer when kai asked her. i'll put a screenshot of the page so that you can refresh your memory before reading for the optimum experience!

"What's your favorite color?"

I watch as his eyes snap to mine, seemingly surprised by the question. "What?" He laughs.

I suppress the urge to roll my eyes. "Your favorite color. What is it?"

He's quiet for a moment and I swear he almost steps on my toes. I feel kind in this moment, so I save him from the snarky comment threatening to slip past my lips.

"Of all the things you could ask me, you ask me what my favorite color is?" My eyes narrow as that stupid smile creeps onto his face.

That stupid, charming smile.

I blow a strand of hair out of my eyes, if only to have that action conceal the flush that is creeping up my cheeks. "I feel like I don't know many things about you, so I figured I'd start with the basics."

I sigh. "I'm letting you off the hook with an easy question, so don't disappoint. What is your favorite color?"

He spins me, and we continue swaying in silence. I study him, study his gaze, as he appears to be carefully contemplating the answer. Guesses run through my mind.

I can't tell what is going on behind those gray eyes of his, until he speaks up, voice soft.

"Blue."

"Hmm," I respond, "I would've never guessed."

"And yours?" he asks me, and now it is my turn to ponder.

I take my time, purposely toying with him, but also because I need it. I never did have the chance to decide on a favorite color, not when my survival was hanging by a thread each day in the slums. Adena had asked me this exact question countless of times, and I had never given her a proper answer.

I thought that I'd subconciously decided on silver, the colour of my hair. But as I open my mouth to tell him, my heart shies away from the answer, wanting to give another one. It seems that my heart has a very different answer, one that my mind has decided to bury like a dirty secret.

Not silver, but a darker shade of it.

Gray.

Ever since I looked into a pair of stormy gray eyes and realized that perhaps thunder was a harmless thing.

Ever since I looked into a pair of cold gray eyes and realized that perhaps freezing was an invigorating thing.

Ever since I looked into a pair of smoky gray eyes and realized that perhaps suffocating was a freeing thing.

I'm not going to say that.

My jaw sets. "I don't have one."

With a small shrug, I change the topic, not wanting to dwell on my favorite color any longer, too scared to understand what this means.

RANT TIME (K*TT EDITION)

SO REASON NYMBER FUCKING ONE: this bitch has always been "jealous" of kai for literally no reason. kai was abused by their father and forced to be a murderer. k*tt was upset because he had an actually safe and happy life and had a father that loved him. he also DEFENDED KAIS ABUSER!!! also daph do NOT say kai defended him too because that is DIFFERENT. kai was brainwashed into thinking he deserved the abuse, and if u defend kitt for this ur saying that u think he thinks that kai deserves the abuse. next reason: his "love" for paedyn. there was NO LOVE. he liked the idea of her. as bing once said, he like dthe idea of "taming her". another very specific thing that MADE ME SO MAD was when KAI TOLD HIM he has to make a change, so he decided to send all those coins in the fountain to the slums (WHICH HE NEVER EVEN DID AND HE NEVER HELPED THE SLUMS LIKE HE TOLD PAE HE WOULD BUT THATS ANOTHER PART OF THIS RANT). AND THEN HE TELLS PAEDYN THAT SHE HELPED HIM REALIZE AND I LOVE PAEDYN BUT NO BITCH UR BROTHER HELPED YOU. FUCKING GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR ONCE AND STOP BEING AN ASS. hes also a literal pick me but thats obvious reasoning. ANOTHER THING. he claims to care about the kingdom, but he really doesnt. if he really did, he still wouldve helped the slums besides paedyns "betrayal". but NO HE FUCKING DIDNT. HE LEFT THE KINGDOM TO GO TO SHIT BC HIS UNREQUITED CRUSH DIDNT LIKE HIM BACK AND NEVER EVEN LED HIM ON??? IT WAS OBVIOUS SHE WAS GOING TO CHOOSE KAI so tell me WHY he even TRIED. HE DID IT TO HIMSELF. hes also so fucking stupid and gullible to let CAELUM. THE FORMER RESISTANCE LEADER. to be his advisor. also all the shit he pulled at the end of reckless like WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE THINKING!?!??! i do NOT get what goes on in his mind at all. ALSO HE FUCKING FORGOT AVAS BIRTHDAY IDFK IF HE WAS "DEPRESSED" (SPOILER ALERT HE WASNT) HE CANT FUCKING FORGET HIS SISTERS BIRTHDAY. KAI WAS IN A HORRIBLE PLACE TOO BUT HE DIDNT FORGET!!!!
