So the thing I’m writing is the ol “what if the vinsmokes had emotions” fic but with a small spin on it (the spin is yonji focus because i like him a normal amount).
It takes place sometime between punk hazard and dressrosa (timeline is kinda wack but whatever. Canon divergence). The events of whole cake have not even begun to transpire at this point when Sanji suddenly has to deal with a very confused and scared yonji crashing onto the sunny. Turns out …. something happened to his augmentations and he has started to experience fear and pain. Horrifying to someone who spent 21 years of their life without that!
The straw hats are understandably suspicious but sanji, noticing something is VERY different about the way yonji carries himself compared to when they were kids, hesitantly agrees to not kick him into next tuesday. So from there, he kinda just. Hangs out on the sunny and learns to be human from the straw hats.
Im really trying to hone in on the nature vs nurture aspect. Its something i really love in stories (looks directly at the dq brothers). Like how much of yonji’s personality is a result of his augmentations and how much of it is years of judge’s influence? How easily would he be able to heal from those though patterns, if its possible at all? Would he even want to? He has the capacity to feel a full range of emotions but it would be hard for him to really process what any of it means
And on sanji’s side, the situation is unbelievably complicated, and hes constantly on edge since at this point he hadnt had a chance to work through his unresolved trauma. Hes still at the “my childhood is never gonna affect me again” stage of his life so not only does he have to deal with the vulnerability of revealing his past to his crewmates when he really didnt want to, he also has to have his BROTHER on the ship. Not great for his mental health but he doesnt have it in his heart to turn yonji away when he came to him distressed.
Because this fic is LONG i wanna give yonji time to have a conversation with most of the straw hats. I have some ideas for their dynamics that im really enjoying writing so far :) specifically luffy, robin, franky, and zoro. Also caesar 💀 because he’s here at this point in the timeline and knows his dad so i imagine hed have a bit to say
Im like nowhere done the first chapter but when its finished im 100% posting it on this blog so you guys can read it :D i hope everyone likes it 👉👈 im having fun with it
