This is such a brief and easily forgettable moment from the Hidden Mist vs Funato Clan arc but it holds the most important "message" out of the whole fiasco.
It doesn't matter who wins the war. The ones who'll suffer the most from the outcome are the average people living in the Land of the Sea. The Funato clan reigns the sea by robbing and killing these people, while the Hidden Mist (as an agent to the Land of the Sea's higher authorities) is pushing for a modernization project that will badly affect these people's source of income and livelihood. If you ask me, neither of them are "fit" to take control of the seas because both sides are rather neglectful of those who live under them.
Honestly? In this mess of a war, I'm only rooting for the average folks - the fishermen. I have no empathy for the entitled warring factions who think they represent the people, when in fact, they're representing themselves.
What I'm hoping for is... for the seas to swallow them all and sink them to the bottom of the ocean. Divine punishment and shit. But that will be too dark for a shonen show like Boruto 🤷♀️
