I like it a lot actually... The first time I had it iI thought "oh this isn't that bad" and then like thirty seconds later it hit me all at once and I thought i was gonna see god.

But it's really good 😭!

I like the rice cakes a lot. They're super satisfying to chew on. If there's fish cake in it too then I'm usually pretty happy.

Now I'm craving it...

Second Friday of Lent Fish Dinner

For the second Friday of Lent I dove back into Danube: Recipes and Stories from Eastern Europe by Irina Georgescu.

The dinner was centered around chifteluțe de pește, dill fish cakes. White fish is processed with caramelized onion and garlic, egg, dill and lemon zest.

I served it with the thyme potato wedges, paprika onion salad, and sarmuzac sauce. To make the sauce I heated olive oil over medium until it was hot, removed it from the heat and stirred in garlic and allowed it to soften for 10 minutes. I removed the garlic from the oil and crushed it with a little salt in my mortar and pestle and then slowly added oil and stirred and emulsified the mixture. Then I added in the lemon juice. This resulted in a very strong sauce that I enjoyed over both the fish and potatoes.
