Kaka Point

Our next few days are at kaka Point on the south east side of South Island at the top end of the Caitlins. WE have heard that many New Zealanders overlook this area but we found the area delightful and full of glorious scenery. On our first afternoon we went to the local Nugget Point to see both the lighthouse there and to the local yellow eye penguin colony at Roaring Bay where we had a wonderful sighting of a penguin coming ashore right in front of the hide we were in so we got some great photos. The beaches at Kaka Point are stunning and our accommodation perfectly located on a hill overlooking the sea with a spa bath you can lie in and watch the sunrise/sunset - yes I did both on different days.
