Kakofonator Plus #7 - Handmade Noise/Beat (De-)generator
The KAKOFONATOR PLUS #7 is housed in a handpainted recycled plastique enclosure, that used to be a part of a shopping window light fixture set-up. The enclosure has a bright green power indicator LED inside, that shines through its grilles. It works as a standalone noise generator and as a device that interacts with audio input signals.
The 4 square wave oscillators with different frequency ranges can be individually switched on or off with a toggle switch and have a FREQUENCY pot each. The 2 LFOs can each be routed to modulate one of the oscillators (LFO1> OSC1/OFF/OSC2) and (LFO2> OSC3/OFF/OSC4) or switched off with 2 3-position toggle switches. All oscillators are affected by the STARVE pot, that limits the power they can draw, resulting in stochastic noises, when the different gates of the IC battle for power. When the power toggle switch is in the ‘off’ position, the TRIGGER stomp switch can be used for pulsed power supply, the decay of those pulses is controlled by the STARVE pot, indicated by a fading ultraviolet LED. If a (boosted) audio signal is send to the INPUT, it can either run through pretty clear or through a PRE-AMP stage with adjustable GAIN. The PRE-AMP can be switched on or off with a toggle-switch and has an effect on the overall sound, even when there is no audio input. A MIX pot allows to blend the internal and incoming signals and a global VOLUME pot controls the OUTPUT signal. Powersupply (with euro-plug) included.
