I'm Home? || {kaleidoscopichydrangea}
It would have been approximately five days since he had asked for a temporary leave from the pet store—not that he needed to, according to his boss, being a part-time worker. Miko supposes it as call of habit. He really didn't think the place would manage the same if we weren't there... and for a pretty long time, too. He's long since grown so accustomed to the pet store that to know he won't be hearing Spike rattling at his wheel or Romina breaking the water tube again for the nth time seems highly uncustomary. If you asked anyone else, five days really isn't a long time, but to know that he'd have to spend it rattling at out-of-state trip presented such a bother to him that time condensed and it felt like forever. But whatever, he's back now. Though it did feel just as weird that he'd be so whiny about being away. Surely, he didn't think of stinking New York as his home. Too weird.
In any case—the next morning, he's early to catch his shift. Around the break of dawn, even earlier than his usual. Miko doesn't care to admit that this was longing for home in a sense.
Of course, most of the critters were still asleep. That meant he had time to check everything out—from the sales (..as far as he could touch, anyway,) to the slim possibility of any new arrivals, to bad stock and even the waste disposal. Chi probably wouldn't even have touched that, he thinks, smirking subtly to himself.
