Inktober day 24! Ai Astin from Sunday Without God!
A scan from the Owaranai Melody wo Utaidashimashita CD/DVD (sung by Komatsu Mikako).
THE ENTIRE SUNDAY WITHOUT SOUNDTRACK IS ON YOUTUBE AAAAAAAAHHHH
Read the prologue of KamiNai Vol.1 and I'm kinda glad they fast tracked Yoki and Anna taking care of Ai in the anime bc the LN introduces it in a strange way.
Ai thinks Yoki is pretty and she asks to marry him, obviously he's frustrated because she doesn't understand that's not okay. For some reason Anna is jealous over this which I cannot for the life of me understand (girl how are you this insecure?! She's twelve and he's your husband!!).
Ai also asks to marry Anna, and they name drop same sex marriage (which I think Ai knows about. How does she know this when she's from a mountain village? Idk but gay rights woo!), Ai says these things cause she just wants to be close to Yoki and Anna, and has a dysfunctional view on what parents are.
So despite the weirdness, we do get more time with Yoki and Anna and their regret over lying to Ai. Yoki takes care of Ai in his house I think (or maybe Ai's house), but Anna can't bear to because of the guilt, so she lives separately to them. They're happy to consider themselves her parents for a short while, but they don't want to go along with it in the end for multiple reasons. Also Yoki nearly hits Ai and it scares her (god this story is so fucking tragic).
Imo I prefer how the anime does it overall because it's just much simpler to make it so they are already taking care of her, despite the guilt, which does admitedly add a bit more dimension to these characters. I could've gone without Ai asking adults to marry her but kids irl say that sometimes anyway when they really look up to an adult figure in their life.
Those are my thoughts so far on any differences, I'm up to when Ai meets Kizuna so I'm gonna keep reading from there 🫡
When I first watched Kaminai it made me realize that the white-haired character trope wasn't just a myth after all and that is so cruel
i just rewatched the first three episodes of Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi, Kaminai for short, and i’m legit crying. tears in my eyes, guys
In my opinion these 3 episodes stand alone and you can watch them as a single story. Although there are other moments in the series (12 episodes) that make you get on the floor, try not to cry, cry a lot.
oh my feels they hurt... this anime is very unknown and underrated and i think you should give it a try :’c
Finished kaminai and am missing it already. Does anyone have anything similar they can rec me?
