Floating Village or Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia #ChongKhneas #PrekToal #KampongPluk #KampongKhleang #SiemReapAngkor #Cambodia #AngkorHunterTour #LocalGuide #AngkorGuideCambodia One of the most common adaptations to life on the lake is Floating Village. Wooden Houses are built upon the great mats of bamboo, metal drums or boat hulls, such that the front veranda floats a meter or so above the water. As the lake rises and falls so do the houses. Villages move, not only meters up and down during the year, but also several kilometers back and forth as the Tonle Sap contract and expands. Otherwise, life in Floating Village is much the same as in any Cambodian community. In large villages the high street is lined with shops, restaurants, hairdresser, fuel station, karaoke bar even pagoda or church, Commune and sclool. The only difference is that the street is made of water and people travel by canoe or motor boat rather than bicycle or motorcycle.
