the  day  draws  to  a  close,  painting  team  gai’s  training  ground  in  a  passionate,  deep-  orange.      only  gai    &&    lee  remain,  as  it  had  always  been.      the  jonin  has  missed  these  evenings,  but  now  that  his  dearest  student  bounced  right  back,  he  was  overjoyed  to  see  lee’s  spirit  didn’t  suffer  one  bit.      

today,  though,  gai’s  mind  was  preoccupied.     he  keeps  sneaking  glances  at  his  young  charge,  uncertainty  bubbling  in  his  stomach.     he  smiles  brightly  so  lee  wouldn’t  worry.       kakashi’s  voice  keeps  echoing  in  his  mind:      you’re  in  way  over  your  head.    surprisingly,  he  hears  another  voice,  his father’s  voice:   JUST  GO  FOR  IT.

❝    GOOD  JOB,  LEE!!      LET’S  END  IT  FOR  TODAY,  I  NEED  TO  TALK  TO  YOU.    ❞         gai  walks  over  to  the  nearest  tree,  leaning  against  it’s  strong  form.     he  pats  the  spot  besides  him,  inviting  lee  to  join  him.        @kanashimitohiai​      plotted.    FOR  LEE.

❝ Excuse me .. Shinobi - san ? ❞ His eyes had flickered to the leaf symbol on the others bandana like hitai - ate. Friendly smile is offered to the other male before gaze darts to the empty spot beside the male. ❝ Is this seat taken ? ❞ He points down at the empty spot, dark hues meeting equally dark hues of another. ❝ I just wanted a spot to eat my dango and then I will be on my way. ❞ Hand that had been holding the little container with the dango stored inside shakes the container ever so slightly at it's mention. It was nice to walk around the village like this, to not have eyes on him as himself, to get to enjoy the village and take it slow.

the  walls  of  his  home  offered  more  comfort  than  the  anbu  hospital  cell;  as  little  as  he  remembered  of  it  with  how  drugged  he  was,  but  even  the  cleaning  could  occupy  his  mind  for  only  so  long.      gai  encouraged  him  to  train  his  mind,  though  reading  for  more  than  an  hour  left  his  head  aching  &&  eyes  tired.      he  finds  comfort  in  the  nibi,  her  name  is  matatabi,  talking  to  the  great  nekomata.     he  never  expected  a  tailed  beast  to  be  so...  kind.

lee  sighs  as  he  pressed  his  face  against  a  pillow,  even  knowing  his  father  would  return  in  a  few  hours  he  missed  the  only  person  who  still  saw  him  as  LEE      not  the  cursed  nibi  child.    or  that  poor;  crippled  boy.    the  only  person  who,  lee  was  convinced  now,  would  always  love  him;  deeply  &&  unconditionally.    the  only  person  lee  could  rely  on,  would  follow.

a  knock  wakes  him  from  the  murky  waters  of  tired  thoughts,  surely  that  wasn’t  an  anbu.    they  were  content  watching  the  maito  residence  from  the  shadows.      his  suspicions  were  confirmed  it  was...  the  boy  team  seven  took  in  a  while  ago.      haku??     one  of  the  last  people  he  expected.        ❝ are  you  here  for  papa?? ❞           @kanashimitohiai​      LIKED.         for  haku.    from  lee.

one  second  he’s  racing  across  branches    &&    fields,  the  next  he  finds  himself  in  front  of  konoha’s  gates.      not  HIS  konohagakure,  obviously,  for  the  anbu  was  quick  to  swarm  him.      matatabi’s  chakra  was  a  stranger  to  them,  HE  was  a  stranger  to  them.   just  an  imposter,  as  they  called  him.   lee  has  the  choice:     submit  or  make  the  entirety  of  this  konoha  his  enemy.

he  uses  the  chance,  all  caged  up  in  an  S  rank  anbu  cell,  to  reflect.     this  isn’t  a  genjutsu;  IT  COULDN’T  BE  A  GENJUTSU.      jinchuriki  are  difficult  to  be  put  under  genjutsus,  not  even  speaking  of  a  tailed  beast.     plus,  he  has  stopped  his  chakra  stream  multiple  times  by  now.        how  long  has  he  been  in  this  cell??     it  wakes  unpleasant  memories  of  when  he  had  first  become  jinchuriki         ibiki  didn’t  break  him,  even  tsunade-sama  came  to  see  him.       eventually  another  came  to  visit  him    &&    it’s  the  last  person  he’d  expected.        IT’S       HIM.          where  he  previously  had  balanced  on  his  left  arm,  he  immediately  jumps  up  torwards  the  bars  seperating  them.

❝    HEY.    ❞        he  smiles,  it’s  like  a  tiger’s  snarl,  but  do  not  be  mistaken         he  does  it  to  cover  fear.     he  doesn’t  feel  matatabi  within  this  other  version  of  himself,  he  didn’t  have  dark  shadows  under  his  eyes.    he  didn’t  seem  like  he  was  forced  to           instead,  a  worried  expression  takes  over  his  features.          ❝    WHERE’S  YOUR  SCARF??    ❞       he  points  at  the  honey  yellow  scarf  wrapped  around  his  neck,  the  one  belonging  they  allowed  him  to  keep.      (      one  because  he  killed  six  anbus  who  tried  to  remove  it      )           @kanashimitohiai​      plotted.    FOR  LEE.

His eyes move over everything around them as he walks at the side of the other shinobi while in his disguise as Sukea. There's something calming about walking in the village as someone that is not himself, it's like looking at the village in a new perspective and it's nice to get to enjoy it with another. There is not a single person that looks at him with recognition in their gaze, instead they look at him for a fleeting moment and look away or look at him curiously in a way.

Suddenly there is the feeling of a hand sliding into his own and his head snaps to the other male, blinking in surprise and gaze traveling down to their joined hands. Cheeks get a light dusting of red on them ( something that would never be noticed if he was walking around as Kakashi ).

❝ Your hand is quite soft. ❞ He says the words gently without thinking, his brain making the observation and firing the words out before he could carefully think out words to present to the other. Oh well, he wouldn't worry about it, instead he'd flash a smile and give that hand a reassuring squeeze.

Stepping inside the bedroom as he looked at both of his papa and dad. Papa seemed to be drooling right on dad, snoring softly as he had his arms around dad. Dad seemed pretty peaceful, too, sleeping away. Hoki felt bad that he was about to wake up his dad, but he really needed someone atm. His sister ended up ushering all the dogs to her room to sleep with, leaving him alone in his room. Gently nudging his dad, he watched him as he kept nudging him, softly whispering, "dad? Dad. Wake up." Knowing he was now slowly getting up Hoki looking down, twiddling his thumbs as he gave a short hum. "I'm sorry to bother you...I uh had -" Pausing Hoki thought it might be silly to say it, he was suppose to be a big kid, but papa always said to be honest about whatever is bugging him, being honest to both of them. "A bad dream. I had a nightmare...sister took all the dogs to her room, and I don't wanna be alone. Can-Can I sleep with you and Papa tonight?" -Hoki @ his dad ❤️

He's awake as soon as Hoki gets near enough, years of being a shinobi had him awakening anytime anyone got near him when he was asleep, though it was always a welcomed awakening when it was one of his and Hayate's children that woke him. Of course, he pretends he's still asleep for a moment, not wanting to startle Hoki and wanting to see if Hoki would move closer or retreat. He gets his answer when Hoki starts to try and wake him, dark hues slide open to meet his sons gaze, slowly sitting up some, gently nudging Hayate over and somehow not waking him in the process. He's patient as Hoki fumbles the words. ❝ Take your time. ❞ He murmurs in a calming and quiet voice, hoping to help Hoki to be at ease so that he can utter the words he needs to utter in the moment. He had an idea where this was going, just from the way the sentence had started, the rest of the words that come from his sons mouth confirm his thoughts and he's giving a gentle and understanding smile. He's not surprised their daughter had somehow managed to get all his dogs to follow her to her room, some nights they'd gravitate just to Hoki, other nights to Hako and then other nights they'd split between the two.

❝ I understand. I know It doesn't feel good to be all alone after a nightmare, I've had plenty myself. So, of course you can stay in here. ❞ By this point he's sure Hayate is not fully asleep anymore, instead more on the awake side and just listening to them, he could tell by how Hayate's breathing pattern had changed, That of course is also confirmed when he scoots over slightly for Hoki, it almost seems like Hayate does the same. ❝ Would you like to talk about your nightmare? I'll listen. ❞
